How hard are they to put in?
I put on a b&m short shifter and it probably took me 1.5 hours from start to finish (this was done using jacks in my garage, probably a lot easier on the lift). In addition, I also put in energy suspension bushings. It was kind of hard to press in the bushings by hand + foot.
IMO, I don’t think it’s worth the hastle. Plus, I think it started to make my tranny grind. Best thing is to put in GSR/ITR shift linkage and shifter.
there not hard to put in. u have to remove some interior pieces then get under the car to unbolt 2 bolts to remove the shifter from the shift rods. its really not hard

x2 I just put GSR linkage/shifter in my 91 and it’s a huge improvement. I never was a fan of short shifters.
X3, I put the itr linkage/oem dual bend shifter in my da and it feels great. I’ve done numerous short throws on other cars and I think the oem itr linkage and shifter feel like a better improvement over just putting on an after market short shifter.
To answer your question though, difficulty wise, it’s pretty strait forward. Doing it the first time you may run into a couple of time consumers but you should be able to figure it out once you get under there and look at it. FYI, on the part where the stabilizer bar holds the “ball” of the shifter, there are two bolts attached (10m nuts I think) that need to be taken out. These two bolts spin freely, and can’t be held by a wrench while you loosen the nuts. You will need a pair of pliers, vise grip work good, to hold the tops of them to keep them from spinning freely while you loosen the nuts. You will see what I’m talking about, no big deal.
If you’re going to be down there, I recomend buying some prothane shifter bushings (over es). You can get them from ebay for like 16 shipped or something and it helps take away the slop, good upgrade over oem. Also, IF you do decide to go with an after market shifter over a whole DC integra linkage, I recomend this one in dual bend: twmperformance.com
Have fun, and good luck.
well i installed my short shifter yesterday…Took me an hour and half, thats only bc i was gonna swap out Mid pipe that i bought but the new one wasnt long enough so i just threw the old 1 back on but didnt take me long 2 do the short shifter. But i must have tighten the bolt a lil 2 much haha
I just bought a used skunk2 dual bend and counter weighted knob. anyone have this combo now? if sodo you like it?
