short shifters....

i’m gonna be buying a short shifter as soon as i know which one to get and at a good price. so far i know i want either skunk2, neuspeed, or b&m. skunk2 and neuspeed are alot of $$ but i found a b&m one for $50 brand new. they are all made of steel but b&m is a different shape. which one should i buy??

B&M sits too far foward once installed. The Skunk2 has weight as its advantage b/c the throws are very defined…its shifts with authority hehehehe. The Neuspeed one is a very nice choice as well, I would have gone with that one had I not found my current one (C’s). Also, Neuspeed includes the shifter bushings in their kit. You get what you pay for. HTH

i’ve got the B&M and i love it. Its a great shifter, and what makes it even better is that it is cheap, but still very high quality. You can get the shifter and some bushings on groupbuy center for under $70. It does sit a little bit more forward than i’d like, but its not bad.

unless your very short or have very short arms then the b&m isnt bad at all. i like it 100x better than the other 2, i’ve felt both of them too. the b&m just feels alot more solid. also get a bushing set no matter what shifter you get

yea, i like my b&m. mixed with some es shifter bushings its even tastier.

skunk 2 elbow bend short shifter… 2 of my friends have it it feels great and does the job its supposed to do. its all about preference i guess. spend money on this or more on this for the name… your choice.

B&M Skunk2 or Hurst are my suggestions.

The B&M bushing kits come with an adjustable bushing for the change extension. It has an allen bolt that tightens when you find your desired position. So with that, you don’t have to worry about the Edge shifter sitting to far forward. You get all of this for less than the nuespeed or the skunk2. Plus I think that the B&M is much stronger being that it’s made of steel. (Don’t know if the Nuespeed is or not) I know the Skunk2 isn’t. HTH

Jeff

I 2nd tri on the B&M position. It was rattling on me too brand new. I might have just gotten a bad one but i ended up with neuspeed. I like it a lot especially when paired with a heavy knob. My friend just got a skunk 2 SS and it feels great as well, very smooth.

i believe the skunk2 is steel and the neuspeed is as well. the DC is not.

Hey 92GS-R, thanks for pointing that out, forgot Nuespeed is painted steel. I’ve never used a Skunk, but I thought they were alumminum, just went to the site and saw for myself that they are steel. Thanks.

no prob… the only reason i know is cause I kept getting them mixed up too. but the DC Sports one is billet alluminum (kind of expensive IMO)…

Yeah if my choices were APC or DC, I’d choose APC…much cheaper to keep replacing.

no i wouldn’t go that far… most people are satisfied with their DC alluminum shifters. You can’t really compare quality of DC Sports to APC. The APC one break all the time. i’ve only heard of a few DC’s breaking.

where can i get a new or used skunk2 short shifter for under 100 bucks? i’d take a neuspeed if someone has one but…

Try E-bay. I’ve found plenty of Integra parts there for sale. Just be very careful.
