Hey guys, I just got me a 91 DA Im gonna put some work into and I was planning on getting a JDM 92-93 Front Bumper to put on it. I wanted to know if its worth it or should I just stick with getting a USDM 92-93 bumper.

same exact bumpers
Well the bumpers are the same, but the core supports are lighter on the JDM bumpers… You can’t use the 92 core support on a 92 bumper on a 91 front, however…
Get a USDM and don’t get all JDM hyped up .
Here’s your options:
90-91 Mounting Brackets = 90-91 Support = Cutting a little bit to fit 92-93 cover.
92-93 Mounting Brackets = 92-93 Support = Perfect fit of 92-93 Cover.
I would suggest just getting the 92-93 mounting brackets b/c it’s such a hassle free install. Simply bolt everything up and go. BTW same thing applies to the jdm support as well.
Thank for the info everyone. b18a1sedan, do u know where I can get those brackets?

They come on the car. Its what support bolts on. They’re held on by 4 12mm bolts, and are square shaped.
something else to think about…the JDM bumper mounts are not as strong as the North American mounts…if you were to get into in accident you could have serious insurance claim problems…speaking from experience!
I think that about somes it up for me. I’m not trying to mess the insurance piece at all. lol.

92-93 bumper is the same
its exaclty the same except the JDM is 20 pounds lighter than usdm
Wow. Not sure you restate this when it has already been stated 6 days ago in the second post. I’m sure he knows that by now.
I had to replace the reinforcement in my bumper when I bought the car. The chick who owned it before me, hit a concrete post and bent it to all hell. Now with that said, the bumper reinforcement was bent, and the bumper assembly ruined, but the thing had the strength to protect the car when it happened. There is no other damage to the car.
Now I thought about getting JDM support, but I seriously dont think it would protect the car as good as the USDM in the event of a light frontal impact.
The USDM reinforcement is heavy, but it is a good price to pay for the added protection. Oh yeah. New USDM reinforcements are $280 at the dealer, but I found one at the junkyard for $100, and I got the foam piece for free, it is $75.
There are $80 ones on Ebay, but I dont know nothing about them. The fit is not guaranteed.
Anyways, a few before and after Pix:
I was lucky enough to scrape up a whole front 1/4 clip from my local junkyard for $130. What I did was take the bumper brackets off my 91 and put the 92 ones on. from there I just used the 92 re enforcement, foam, and cover!
yea, those are my thought’s exactly. Me living in LA, you never know what could happen and little accidents happen alllll too often here. I’m planning on going to a junkyard in a week or two to hopefully pick up a 92 support and cover. I’ve done some research for new parts and found most of what I needed brand new and OEM for about $1200 for the parts that I need, but I’m hoping to find most of those parts at the junkyard to save more then half that amount.
