hey i got a skunk2 intake mani im puting on my b17 and theres a sensor that a coolent line connects too on the stock mani that the s2 doesnt have.its below the tb if your looking into the plenium. what is it? thanks.
Thats the Eacv(i think)
You just run a hose strait from the SK2 mani to the throtle body.
Problem solved:up:
it’s the fitv not the IAC. if he disconnects his IAC his car won’t idle for shit…in fact it probably won’t idle lol. fitv = fast idle thermal valve IACV = Idle Air Control Valve. as for if it doesn’t matter if the fitv isn’t on i wouldn’t know, i never tried it lol.
FITV thats right:dunno:
no it dosnt realy matter. i ran without mine all winter, no problems at all. of course i always let it warm up for at least 1 minute before i drive anywhere anyways, but i do that in the summer too. so i dont know if that makes a difference
thanks i will get it together and see what i can do. anything else anyone has for me would really help.
i got the mani on all right. got everything hooked up (except the fast idle thermal valve since there are no mounts or holes for it on the mani) ive checked over everything 3 times. it starts but the second it cranks it revs to 5500 rpm and falls, then back up to 5500 an falls… any input?
Probobably air bubbles in the system. reset the ecu, bleed the coolant system and take her for a drive to flush the rest out.
had the same problem, mind you mine was about 3500 rpm
bled the system, there were a few bubbles. same thing happens but it revs to 4000 instead of 5500, which is a little improvement. could anything else be wrong? is the fast idle thermal valve needed? or can it be bypassed properly?
did you hook up your IAC?? if not that’s why it is surging like this, or unless your IAC either needs a cleaning or its gasket is no good. did you properly install the IM and clean off the head surface?? you should check for vacuum or IM air leaks.

The little pain in the ass plug, that clips into the back of the plenum part of the manifold.
yeah, it has a cylinder shape, has 2 coolant hoses connected to it and a plug, this is the IAC. make sure it is connected right, and its O-ring is not damaged…any air leaks could cause surging idle, or high idle. if everything is connected right, you may have another problem, try adjusting your throttle cable. while idling at 5000rpm like you said, close your butterfly valve by hand and see if there is a difference. if there is a big difference (idle drops drastically), your throttle cable is way too tight and constantly pulling the butterfly open. loosen it so you have a little bit of play, it should never be tight. hope this helps
