Skunk2 lower control arms or Stock?

I need to replace my rear lower control arms to pass state vehicle inspection. I do not know if I should go with the Skunk2s or just replace them with an OEM part (replacing the entire part, not just the bushings). They are about the same price. Can anyone describe any advantage one product has over the other?

Or should I just replace bushings? (Worried about the extra labor charge on this.) Keep in mind I’ll be having a shop do the work, I’m still without a garage.

Thanks!

i thought the difference was looks and weight. a farkle

I would just stick with stock, unless you want a colorful LCA’s to look at while your car is parked lol.

I have the black series skunk2 LCA in my gsr they are amazing a lot better than Blox. Just remember that the stock LCA bushing is a lot softer, however, the skunk2 bushings are stift but they handle better.

Would the stiffer bushings be better in the long run? I hate slop, but I don’t really know how the lower control arms would stiffen up the suspension really.

Well, I’m currently running stock control arms with ES bushings. VERY easy to install the bushings. If you’re not planning on running an aftermarket sway bar (a large one, anyway) then the added features of aftermarket control arms (multiple mounting points for sway bars) is kind of pointless. They look better, by a long shot. But, if you’re not doing major suspension mods, I say stick with the OEM replacement. The next time I do suspension work on mine, I’ll be going aftermarket, but that’s because I’ll want the different sway bar bracing locations so I can have a variety of bars to try out to see what I like the best. If that’s not your cup of tea, stick with OEM. Fitment is perfect, and ride quality is fine. Stiffer bushings provide a more solid feel, by not letting the pieces bolted to them to sway like soft rubber bushings would. The improvements aren’t dramatic, or anything. But, it doesn’t hurt and IS beneficial on modded suspensions.

From what I know of your car, and that it is subtly modified, and driven fairly regularly, I say go OEM.

only difference in the sk2 is the bushing is harder and and the control arm is lighter…but oem bushings will last longer but there softer lol

stick with oem at least for now. im not sure if those “inspectors” like aftermarket stuff.

Well it turns out it’s not the lower control arm bushings that are worn. Instead, it’s the trailing arm bushings. BIG DIFFERENCE. I’ll be sticking with OEM for those. I won’t be replacing that entire hunk of metal. Thanks everyone.

Yeah, OEM or bust with the RTA bushings.
