The title says it, i need help deciding between the two companies above, also specific series/models if you guys could.? And feel free to mention other brands if you know of some that are quality. Looking to spend around $1000, just want opinions on stiffness, ride height, clearance, ill be running 15"x7" +10 offset so need clearance. Camber kits front and rear and LCAs are obvious too and most likely going to be Skunk2. Thanks
I have tein SSP with electronic damper in my on 92 gsr they are awesome. My little brother bought the skunk2 coilovers with adjustable damper for his 90 Integra he had issues with the rear coilovers being too short. He went to Function and Form with adjustable dameper and the rear coilovers were still a little too short. Now he’s planning to get the tein SSP since they work great on my car. I like skunk2 front camber and rear camber they are good stuff. I hope this help.
Tough choice. I have both. My DA has Skunk2 but my DB has Tein. The Skunk2 I chose for pure performance. They are stiff and make for a rough ride on the street, but handle great. On the DB, I went with Tein Luxury Master. They lowered the car where I wanted it, ride decent and still handle good. What you need to decide is, what are you using the car for. A pure track car, go with the Skunk2. You just want to lower the car, Tein Luxury is the best for you money. I have a friend that has the Tein S-Tech on his car and they to ride rough, but handles a lot like my Skunk2’s.
i really want a flush DD so not too much suspention travel but i dont want what might as well be metal rods replacing my shocks lol…and im looking for full coilover system.i have heard good things about F&F type 1 but not adj. dampening and type 2 i heard were not that good. Also AZNLOVERZ65, what exactly do you mean by too short? rubbing or just sat lower in the rear?
what I meant by too short is it just sat lower in the rear. I like to have a two fingers gap between the tires. I also upgraded my brakes to AEM big brakes they look really awesome.
My DD is the DB1 sitting on the Teins with Tokiko struts. They dropped the ride height 2" front and 1.8" rear. With the right wheel and tire combo, they look good. Coil overs ride like metal rods. I have had Tein Coil overs on the DA and it was like having no suspension at all! I drove it on a long trip, when I got back I swapped them out for the Skunk2’s! The ride was so rough my, arms were sore and my butt hurt! If you only have a few miles to drive no problem, but long trips I don’t suggest!
id love it to be stiff so theres no risk of damage on the fender with wider rims but i love to just cruize @ like 2am so i guess that counts as a long trip…right now mies got about a finger and a half in the rear and 2 in front or maybe a bit more…but it looks good
I like the sk2 type S coilovers. I had them for a year and the ride was smooth even when lowered and on the open road. I had them stiff and rough before I trimmed the bump stops but then after I did trim them they were better and smoother…
My Tein basic coilovers are still going strong after 4 years of daily driving! I wouldn’t buy anything else.

Skunk2
Its got the performance you want, plus the new feature of preloading, and the ride is stiff enough so that if you decide to get flush you wont bottom out if you hit a pot hole.

think i could get a pic to see what it looks like
No rust either!! ill get a picture for you
and mine are basic coilovers so you could go lower with a SuperStreet setup or get different rear lower control arms and get any coilover they offer which is what i’ll do in the near future… I just think the reliability is amazing
Neither,get progress coilovers
thanks alot really apreciate it but before i got to get my new suspention someone hit my DA :’(
that sucks all these accidents and stuff right before something is bought…
yea, my chassis may carry a salvage now but its driveable and fixable…so give me the 1400 i paid for it and ill keep my mods and get some more…after i pull the fender out and roll it.
ya know whats really cool is that they ran my VIN ofcourse, when the adjustment company came out to assess it and they sent me the entire vehicle information sheet that shows what options were chosen for my car what options were available…and what condition they expected certain things to be in and what condition mine was in…its actually pretty cool, except they assume a 91 RS to have 185,000 not 252,000…on chassis XD
