Slammin the teg-NeuRace-What struts to get besides Konis???

FYI - First of all, I have searched for forever on an answer to this question, but no one really seams to answer it …

I am getting my Neu Race springs in this week and I want to get some shocks that are matched to the springs. There is no way in hell I can afford the koni’s, so that is out of the question.

I have heard a lot of people here say that Tokicos (adjustable and non-adjustable) are only good until a 2" drop. Well, I’m expecting around a 2.25" ish drop from the Neu Race’s. Is this true about the Tokico’s?? What shocks ARE good at this drop? Anyone with experence in this situation got any ideas for me? I have it down to KYB’s or Tokico’s. All input is much appreciated and needed!

BTW…I’ve read stories of people’s tokico’s blowing on them, but has anyone had any of the KYB’s blow?

PLEASE HELP THIS POOR COLLEGE STUDENT BLOW HIS MONEY WISELY!!!:stuck_out_tongue:

I have the Neuspeed Race springs with Tokico blues. Ride is rough on bad surfaces, but my ride handles sharply. I’ve never had KYBs but I think I’ll get some to replace my Blues. It’s not unbearable. My drop is about 2" f/r, though the rear looks a little bit lower as a result of the stock fender gaps. Adjustible Tokicos or KYBs would easily change that. Here’s my drop:

Hey nice ride! I was wondering…why are you going to get the KYB’s if you already have the Tokico blues? Is the ride really that bad? Or are you just changing so that you can get the adjustables? Have you tried giving the car a “strut adjustment” to improve ride quality and increase shock travel or have you already done this?

BTW - How long have you had the Neu Race/Tok Blue combo? Have you had any probs with the Tokico’s other than a stiff ride?

Thanks!

Whoops! I forgot I’d replied to this thread.

I’m replacing the Blues when the give out, not any time sooner. Shocks are too expensive to keep switching. The ride isn’t THAT bad that I need to immediately switch. No, I haven’t done any strut adjustments.

I’ve had the Race/Blues combo since Sept. 12th 2001, by the way. I’ve had the Blues for, oh, over two years. No leaking or squeaking so far!
