i notice when i dont use vtec for a while when i kick it in, there is smoke behind the car, but if i get back into vtec shortly after i dont notice any smoke. is this normal? im going to do a comp test this weekend see what my comp is across the board. but just curiouse if anyone has the same problem or if its normal
is it like hard core smoke? cause sometimes when I see someone hit the gas their exhaust is a bit darker, but I have never seen my own before (unless its a cold morning or something…lol)
my buddy grants B18C swapped DB2 does it all the time.
i cant tell the color ill just check my rear view and see some smoke, i figure your always going to get a little blowby at high rpms, but was curiouse if it is common.
in my DC it happens sometimes, although it hasnt happened recently.
what oil are you using, are you using any additives, because i think using lucas handle the issue w/ it smoking while in VTEC
Also have you considered chekcing the valves/guides? There could be some oil seeping through the guides, but they would have to be pretty bad for that to happen. It’d usually be just on startup mostly but it is another option.
moral of this story: don’t hit vtec in public places.
i just use castrol 10w-30, i never use any additives, maybe ill try some lucas
what about valve seals
but why only in vtec, why not all the time. is it the transition to the bigger lobes that cause it?
yea i used castrol(for the first time in years) when i finally changed the oil in my DC and added lucas…no more smoking in vtec.
if its just alot of black gas when u shift then its un burned fuel. usually when u get a aftermarket exhaust u always see the black smoke when u shift
same problem see if any1 finds a cure
