take the valve cover off and unbolt the stud and screw in a new one, problem solved, you should be able to just use a skinny magnet to get the broken one out of the spark plug hole(one reason why a good mech. always puts shoptowels over the plug holes). i have broke many valve cover studs, they really arent a big deal. cam cap bolts are one of the worse pains if you break one of those.
Honda or Acura dealer, around $2. If you go to the Honda dealer, ask for an early model CRV B20 valve cover stud.
This happens often, so don’t sweat it. And once you remove the valve cover, look at the base of that stud, and you will see how a deep socket or wrench will take it right out. Don’t forget the piece that is dropped into your spark plug tube. Don’t remove the spark plug till you remove that piece of stud out.
thanks a lot guys, i got a part # on it and called around to 5 of my local honda dealers and nobody had it so i’m gonna go to the scrappers and pull a crap load of them so i have extras if this ever happens again lol. thanks sam92teg
Damn, you have 5 local Honda dealers, awesome. I do the same thing, I find the Acura part number, then go to my Honda dealer and ask if they will cross reference to a Honda part. Luckily, the Honda B20 is exactly like the Acura B18 except for the piston bore and rings.
Replace the studs and caps with actual bolts. I did it with no issues. You will need to drill out or heat the plastic bushings the bolts go through to get the bolts to work. Just go to the local hardware store with both sizes of studs and but bolts with the same thread pitch as the large end of the studs.
