snowboardgeek1's DB2

SBK’s 1992 DB2

I purchased this DB2 almost a year ago. I figured I would put together this build thread to keep track of its progress through the years, plus it gives me an open forum to post pics of this beauty. I will be updating the sections where it has XXXXX soon.

Short story: I’ve owned quite a few modified cars in the past. I started modifying cars back in 1993/1994; I even attended the first Import Showoff lol (Damn now I feel really old). Some of the Honda’s I’ve modified within the past 8 years:

  1. 1995 Integra RS (always regretted selling this car. My wife’s family were the first owners). It had some nice mods such as a Greddy turbo kit, Koni/GC combo, ASR w/ ITR rear sway, ITR interior, etc. Just an overall nice daily.

  1. 1993 Civic Si - This was built as a track car. Ran great, very quick, handling was excellent. Mods included 96’ ITR motor and transmission, BC Spec II, Tein Flex coilovers, Autopower rollbar, 5 lug, TE37’s, etc. I miss this car but was always scared to drive it on the street due to cops.

Always loved the car when it was on slips…

Getting cornerweighted & balanced and aligned at Westend…

Ok enough EG pics…this is a DB2 thread right?! ha!

  1. 2003 RSX Type S - This car didn’t really excite me too much. Great daily driver but…blah. It had some good mods such as Hondata, Comptech header, Greddy exhaust, 5Zigen rims, etc. I don’t miss it at all.

Then I went through a period of trying out other makes such as a Subaru WRX, Lexus GS400 (sold it to my in-laws), Miata M-Edition, and other cars not worth mentioning. I tried to stay away with modifying cars and keeping them stock but I got bit by the Honda bug once again. This time I decided to go old school. The choices were 1990-1991 Civic Si’s, CRX Si’s, or DA/DB2’s. I took my time finding a clean example. After a year and a half, I finally found what I would consider a “clean” DB2. Although I am the 4th owner, this Db2 came with “stuff” that one owner cars would have.

Now finally, onto the pics of the DB2 starting with the exterior. Very clean, maybe a few tiny tiny tiny door dings. Car was repainted but they did an excellent job.

Here’s a photoshoot that I did a few months back

Racing Hart Cyber’s - Tires are too big but they have a lot of tread life remaining so I don’t want to get rid of them just yet. I figured I’ll keep these wheels as spares. I got the wheels with tires at a price too good to be true, and the guy was LOCAL! The wheels are in decent shape; no bends, just a few curb rashes.

I really don’t have that many plans for the car. Early next year, I plan on getting tires on the Gale’s I just bought and will do another photo shoot. I do want an autopower roll bar but I’m still not sure I want to cut up the rear panels for it to fit. The majority of my mods will focus more on the suspension. I will probably get Koni/GC’s or Tein Flex’s, ASR and a thicker rear sway bar. I also want to get a better flowing header and maybe a traction bar set up so I can get a nice header to fit instead of the typical DC 2 piece header design. Right now I really enjoy the car. I can drive it daily if I wanted to but I have Scion XB as my daily. The car passed smog easily and I don’t get paranoid if cops drive by me. I’ve taken it on quite a few canyon runs. It handles just OK for now. Overall its a great car and I’m definitely looking forward to keeping this for a long time. Thanks for stopping by!

nice

Beautiful DB2! Based on your previous builds I can tell this is gonna be a quality build!

I appreciate the feedback. Thank you.

Would you like to sell the stock exhaust?

No thanks

Beautiful cars, I got to say that I’am not a fan of 92-95 hatchback’s but that one being an si and with those wheels it sets it off for me. The db2 looks hella clean too but the wheels are to dark (IMO) to bring the beauty of the ride. You should try some white te’s or volk’s in white too or in silver just to see what it looks like, but that’s just me tho if you like it the way it is then keep it that way I’m not trying to take anything away from you or your ride.

I appreciate the feedback. I agree with you on the black wheels. I have a set of Gales that I will be putting on the car very soon and will do another photoshoot. Here’s a sneak peek:

Nice find. Reminds me of my second DB2.

very nice little collection of honda’s you’ve had there. Sounds like youve got a solid plan, I look forward to seeing where this build goes:corn:

man your car is super fresh

Now that’s what I’m talking about, those wheels will make your ride look hella clean.

Gales, very classy throwback, and period correct might I add. Most definite set of wheels that will surely compliment your ride. Please make sure the ride hieght is on point with those wheels. I know you will enjoy the attention and praise once those Gales are put on! What are the measurements and offset?

You’re definitely on point…the main reason I purchased the Gales (besides owning a set back in 1995), is to have this DB2 with period correct wheels.

I think I know where you’re going with your ride height comment  The car was much lower than what is shown in the pics but I got tired of scraping therefore I raised it up with a 1-2 finger gap front and rear just prior to the photoshoot. I will definitely lower the car a small touch after I get the Gales on.

Measurements on the Gales…15x7 with a typical honda 38mm offset.

damn, I like

this joint is real minty

Wow…my favorite by far. Wish I could own one so clean.
