with no intake manifold no dist and no valve cover for 250 good deal for me… but heres the question.
The head is complete with all the parts but not assembled. The head is basically bare. Obvoisuly i cannot reuse the valve springs since they all were in one bag. i cannot reuse the rocker arms since thery were also thrown ina a bag.
but can i reuse the valves?they look good to me? the intake and exuast ports look weird… looks like somone did their half assed wanna -be portflow porting.
The intake side is all smooth but some are rigid, same thing goes for the exhasut side. The bottom of the head looked like is was milled/machined but i dont know to what spec. is it worth to put this head together? here are the pics
i forgot which side of the head thi was but its jsut for you to get an idea of waht im talking about…
heres the ex side
and another
heres the bottom sideof the head
closer look of the combustion chamber
closeup of the vale seat thingy
and um heres a nice crisp pic of a intake valve.
so any one can tell me waht i can reuse and not to reuse? im really tight budget. ill brb gonan watch a movie i rented then ill come back here.
I’m no expert but that head lookes trashed in the ports. Looks like something got sucked in the engine and trashed the ports. Doubtful since the valve looks good. You could probably still use all the things you mentioned (rocker arms, springs etc.) but it’s always better to get them new. See if someone has a spring compression checker tool to see how good the springs are. You should take that head to a machine shop though cause I’m pretty sure the ports are supposed to be smooth.
Those ports look ugly!! The grooves don’t look too deep so you might be able to save it, have a reputable machine shop take a look and have them smooth them out (if it’s worth it). You can reuse the rocker arms and the springs (depending on which cams you’re gonna use). In that pic of the combustion chamber, it looks like something hit right above the exhaust valve? Did the timing belt break or was a rod-bearing spun by chance?

yeah the person i bought the head off said it was “ported” yeahhh okay i had to buy it … i know its thrashed. i emailed tom fujita of portflow.com and he looked at the pics and he said its ok to run .but!.. ill loose hp. with the valve springs the idiot taht sold me the head didnt properly put all the valve springs individually in order. since the helms manual says the intake and exhaust valve springs(outer) are not interchangeable. arghghg… im still going to run it anways…

i dont think you can save it i talked to tom fukits and he said there nothing you can do when metal is cut. i doubt i can reuse one of the rocker arms cuz they werent individually palced and markedin a platic bag since they have different wear characteristics on them. and from the dealer its 95 bucks a set!! but i thin ki can reuse them the helms manual didnt say anything about mix matchting the rocker arms. and the pics with the combustion chamber is fine another machine shop did a valve job form waht tom at portflow says.
