Nice…I too just bought me a b18c1 complete and swap it in my ride…dude told me it had no probs but than agin I find out and did a compression on mines which is way worst than yours. 205 150 150 205 and it still drivable and some what strong. I too am in the same boat as getting new minor rebuild…Piston rings etc…
its no fun man. at least I know with 240 compression it should have Type-R pistons like he said. Has a chipped ECU with 5k vtec 8200 rev limiter and 2step. If i can get all the work done cheap I wont be too far behind. However takes a long time to get anywhere making minimum wage.
Your compression numbers pass. Not great but pass. Why do you think it has a blown head gasket? Did you do a leak down test? Over heating? Smoking? What color smoke?
Example of a bad compression test (no more then 15-20% compression loss per cylinder)
Ideal in spec compression 245
200/ 245/ 235/ 130
130 would yeild required service repair.
it smokes really bad when getting on it. there was quite a bit of oil in the radiator. one of the reasons we think it might have head gasket problems. We have yet to do anything else. For now Im just driving it casually around town. It has aftermarket valve train as well I gotta check it might just need a valve adjustment. but for right now we are just going through everything slowly. Mainly because I have been rather busy and dont have knowledge or tools to do a lot of the work.
edit, on another note I know the previous motor was blown, so we are going to try flushing the radiator to see if its just left over maybe not cleaned well.
got new wiper switch installed.
how is she running? any overheating?
havnt noticed any overheating, however she is randomly pissing out coolant from somewhere. I need to get it to a friends shop so we can look over everything in detail. gonna be driving the ghetto truck for a while till then. I need to get an oil pressure gauge hooked up and watch that. I have taken it to higher RPM’s a couple times and it just doesnt quit seem all there. The ECU is chipped and supposed to have check engine light for shift light. however when it comes on it stays on until you shut the car off and turn it back on. So I am thinking either oil pressure or o2 reading or something.
All in all I think just need to get the motor out take head off look at everything and go from there. There is also no map sensor on the throttle body I believe. Not sure how much of an issue that is. Again I am still learning a lot.
