well, she was fun while she lasted.
was a good car, other than minor repairs and minor quirks she was damn good to me and more reliable than anything or anyone else in my life.
been driving it almost every day delivering pizzas here in conyers ga. put about 4500 miles on it since i started this job and the car just seemed to drive better and better.
1992-2013 (didn’t have it the entire time of course, had it since 2007.)
sitting at 192.5 k miles or so.
i was driving back from a delivery, in my own lane, doing the speed limit after just slowing down from 45 to 35 for the speed limit decrease.
and suddenly there was a car in my way coming toward me.
i tried to stop, thought to turn but would rather take the head-on rather than in the driver side door.
i hit hard enough to bruise some ribs, give me a ringing in the ear, and my neck is a bit stiff.
glasses flew off my face so i couldn’t tell at the time but i had just hit my friends sister, driving her moms car.
now to find a replacement, with no real money in my pocket, so i can continue to work and pay my bills while i wait to see what my buddy’s moms insurance is going to do as far as cash.
oh, the tow driver started and drove the car up into the tow truck bed. (he probably shouldn’t have done that, but still.)
good ol japanese steel.
yea, I’m glad I’m alright, or as you said, well enough.
in some pain, we smacked each other pretty hard.
my ribs are giving me sharp pains, far as i can tell I’m not dieing from internal bleeding or anything so i should be OK in a few days.
hoping my friends insurance company gives me more than blue book value but what can i do.
all i can do is threaten to go to the doctor and get every lil ache and pain checked out, maybe sue them… whatever.
id just be happy to be driving my car again if it were possible, no clue yet how bad the damage is past the radiator support & hood because that’s all i could see at night.
chances are i get fucked and i don’t have the money to get another car even with whatever they offer me.
which sucks because the car WAS my income, delivering pizzas isn’t glamorous or anything but i enjoyed it.
it’s official, totaled.
they didn’t even put a dollar amount on repair, just said nope.
makes me sad, i’ve had it a while and put quite a bit of time into it, not much money went into it after the initial price PLUS repairs to get it road worthy.
when i got it, it needed valve cover gaskets, cap & rotor, wires, plugs, master cylinder, steering rack. flushed trans, oil, radiator, brake fluid.
muffler eventually fell off.
before last year some time i had to replace the starter, month ago the high pressure steering hose started to leak so i replaced that.
all in all not too bad, car was never down for more than a couple hours.
they offered me 2153 for the corpse.
if i can fax them 3 1992 integra’s for sale for more than $2153 in similar condition with in 100 miles he will adjust the rate, going to look around but i dont see it happening.
based on year/value im leaning toward a red 97 accord 2 door with 252k miles, 4 cyl, a/t a/c straight metal no dents but clear peeling in spots. hood and front bumper repainted black (probably rattle can, doesnt look horrible in pics but i’d probably redo the bumper in red at least.).
interior great except for some wear on the leather driver seat. he said he’d go as low as $1900 http://images.craigslist.org/01717_gezpuwxXk2X_600x450.jpg
there are a lot of cars for sale but it seems most are scams or junk, only one i got hold of a legit person was the accord but i haven’t tried the GS or LS yet because i’m not sure about them being worth looking at for the prices.
i have a wtb thread on this forum with no replies yet.
/shrug
not much i can do but keep looking, this thread can be done.
I’m just going off the pictures. If it were me, I would definitely look at the 94 LS first. The black bumper and hood and the Accord look like replacements, so no telling if maybe it was in an accident or not. But you don’t 100% know what’s going on with any of these vehicles until you thoroughly inspect these cars in person. But if that LS has no problems with motor or transmission, I’d think it would be worth $2,100.
you are correct, i don’t know till i see it in person.
but going on what i was told, the black bumper and hood are original, just painted because the person thought flat black would look better than peeling clear coat.
im not crazy about it, mostly because of the mileage… but it seems to be the cheapest ive found so far for the newest model.
there’s a black/black 1997 accord EX 4 cyl a/t a/c with some clear coat peel and black fade on the hood. no mention of miles and no engine pic. http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/cto/4144584132.html
it’s listed at $2200 but at least its in the same zip code so im txting about it right now, the rest are a bit of a drive.
(got a reply, 202k miles, seat covers hiding tears in leather.)
the things that matter most to me is reliability, A/T, A/C, MPG, power windows, clear windshield, good headlights for lots of night driving, all of those things matter to me because i deliver pizzas late afternoon to midnight. may not be glamorous but i enjoy it for the most part, part of enjoying it im sure is directly related to the car itself.
I second this. Your ride has always been a favorite of mines. sorry to see it went out in such a way, i didnt see pics but a head on wreck cant be pretty to look at so thats ok… Glad to hear your alright and GL on the adjuster out of as much as you can…
well im trying to put an offer on the black 90 integra gs, but it looks like it needs tires and there’s no pic of engine and no mention of AC so i have no clue, i do know it has 255k miles. even though its pretty clean i cant justify spending 1800 on it when i could get a honda crv, civic or accord in the 97+ years for 1900-3000. i could probably get the red 97 accord coupe for 1700.
so im not sure what to do or offer.
really like to get a crv now (would be nice for hunting, need space for 3-4 people and our gear.) and worry about another integra some other day.
