I was originally planning to build a b18c this summer, but I want to do something different and as I was scanning through the posts on here about k20 swaps pretty much everyone was flamed off before I could get a full scope. From what I have seen it would require mounts, hydraulic clutch conversion, obd2 conversion, custom intake and exhaust manifold, and axles. Does this sound about right? What about hood clearance because if I was going to go through the trouble I would most likely start off a k24 block and it is something like 20mm taller then a k20a. I just want to get an idea of what is involved because I need something to keep me busy this next year and I know a simple swap is not going to cut it. Also does anyone have any information as to when hasport is supposably releasing their kit. I went onto their website and they dont even have the h22 kit I remember seeing a while back?
nobody really knows if either the motor will stick out high or the oil pan would be too low. but i admire you for your initiative.
some body please help this guy out
Im guessing I would also have to do something with the radiator, maybe from a civic? Just from looking at it I think I could handle just about everything but the manifolds, and as soon as I pick up a runner I can afford to have my car sitting for as long as it needs.

Maybe you should follow that link you so gracefully posted and read half the query results yourself before posting something like that. Of course I have searched and every result consists of :search: or your going to need more then motor mounts to do this swap. It seems like half the people on g2ic since I came here 3 years ago continually whore up threads that they have nothing to contribute to. That alone is the only reason that I only post if I am unable to find the right answers or I that I have experience to help someone else.
Does anyone know where I can find measurements on the k20a2 so I can start getting an idea with clearances. I have been looking at the different blocks and I am probibly going to pick up one of the cheaper usdm k20a2-3 blocks so that I can begin fabrication this summer, but I am just going to have to keep my eyes open. I did see a k20a out of the baseline rsx for 3500 down here, but it was only a longblock and I obviously will also need a tranny.
1)Plant a money tree in your back yard
2) water and fertilize
3) Harvest money
:iagree: Where can I get seeds cus the ones I tried still haven’t germinated. Yea its going to cost, but I really dont think you can put a pricetag on a project like this.
I still dont see why everyone has such a boner for this swap. With the amount of money time and effort you’d spend you could easily built 2 turbocharged b-series engines.
Ya, but not if ya wanna go NA like me Well either way if ya build it right!!
I would be interested in it more if i acually thought bout havin the acual money to do it :(… O and the tools hahaha…
GL Sir!!!
ok there still have to be bseries NA builds you can do for WAY cheaper
Its not about the money, but I want to do something different that will keep me busy this fall, and I have already done a few swaps and Im looking for a bigger project. I plan to keep this car for at least another 5 years, so why not. Yea you could build a turbo b-series cheaper, but it is something that anyone can could do with a couple thousand.
I’m with theJunkman, it’s a pointless swap when there are so many other options.
Once you figure out how to put the proverbial “square peg” in a “round hole” then you will need the skills to fab everything from the mounts, to possibly crossmembers, shift linkages, and so on. Then figure out how to fit it under the hood without dragging the pan on the ground.
Basically, you are not going to get a whole lot of info up front since few are willing to waste time on this swap. If you are crazy enough, and have the cash to burn along with mad skills in fabrication then go for it. Let us know how it turns out.
Hey, I got an idea. How about rather than telling someone NOT to do something different, and to stay “mainstream” you actually try to help people follow through with their creativity? Anyways, in response to the original question, theres a VERY small handful of people on this site that will actually have the technical know-how in order to help you. Go to www.honda-tech.com and go into the hybrid forum and post your question. Theres alot more people there who will be able to help you, and encourage your creativity rather than bash you for trying something different. Plus, quite a few of them have actually done the swaps themselves, and know firsthand.

toohott4handlin - If you are referring to my post then :stfu: :jerkoff: .
Did I tell him not to do it? NO. Do I (and many others) think it is a complete waste of time?.. YES. Does it matter what we think? NO.
Yea, and we all know how H-T is just full of 15 & 16 year old “experts”.
Bottom line is, it is your (his) car, do what ever the hell you want with it. Just make sure you go into a project like this with your eyes wide open, and full dose of reality.
Anyone wanna take bets that in a year someone remembers this post and asks, only for the OP to reply, “yeah, um… we tried it, and we couldn’t make it work…” only to have a hacked bay and an undriveable car.
Even if you succeed… what do you get? “OMG I rule the internet! WOWZERS!” You’ll still be owned all over the track by Patrick’s DA anyway. :bored:
Yes Im referring to you, as well as the rest of people who are quick to discourage someone. Yes, hondatech is full of dumbasses, but it also has its share of people who know what theyre talking about. Alot more than here, thats a fact (and I say that only as truth, not to insult g2ic. Ive been on here for 6 years). And yes, I agree 100% with your last statement. I think people bash on K series for the sake of bashing. Yes, theyre expensive, but you cant deny their technological advancements.
I wouldn’t bash on the K-series since it IS a superior engine. No argument there. The fact is putting a K into a DA is just one giant PITA. Since there is no “swap kit” for the DA you would have to have some serious fabrication skills to do it. Most of the the things you would have to fabricate would seem obvious, and one big daunting headache.
It’s kind of like going to a restaurant where there are no prices on the menu… If you have to ask then you can’t afford it. Same for the K swap, if you have to ask then you “probably” don’t have the skills to pull it off. My only advise would be, don’t anyone kid themselves, you better have a 2nd car to drive around before, during and after.
I have a K24A2 in my car and it runs 18s. :ohyeah:

In your DA?
Hey, anyone know if the K24/K20 swap would be any different in a DB…I wouldn’t think so, but anyone know for sure?
Also, shouldn’t the Hybrid Racing or Hasport kits be available soon for this swap. They seem long overdue from their projected date.
