this shifter is great…i recommend it to everyone. shifts are very short and the bushings help alot. you can really feel it when you shift. almost like a click. it does hit the heat shield, but i’m taking mine off anyway. thanks
I also have a Solo ss. It’s great. At first I thought it was too short, but now it feels perfect. It (or my launch) cut a tenth of my 1/4 mile time. $80 Canadian + $40 for 1.5 hour install!
I also installed this shifter a couple weeks ago, along with some Enegery Suspension bushings. I had to use tin snips and cutout a section of the heat shield, but once that was done it was sooo nice. Try it you will like it…
I’ve heard nothing but good about this shifter, but does it physically sit lower inside? I have a short shifter now that is short throw, but has stock height, and I want a good shifter that sits low and looks good. Thanks.
I don’t think it will sit too much lower than stock, maybe a little bit. I haven’t put my console back in yet so I can’t say for sure.
I think it does sit lower because when I sat in my car right after it was installed it felt farther away from me.
This is my first short shifter ever and I love it. I’m also using a Solo short shift knob to complement it. And I’m using a mixture of the bushings that came with the shifter, and stock. It feels very solid and short;) Now, the only question is: how reliable will it be?

I want the silver one of this shifter… BADLY!
Where in T-Dot does this shifter sell the cheapest…
And where do you get these “Energy Suspension Bushings”? I’ve heard nothing but good about this company but I am totally clueless as to what they do, etc…
Someone enlighten me? Also, where can you buy these in Toronto, Canada?

Hey FlapJack,
You haven’t answered my e-mails man! Are we gonna hook up or what? In fact, my schedule’s changed. I’m free Saturday instead of Sunday.
Anyway, to answer your question. You should’ve came to Performance Improvement’s big bash sale. They had the Solo shifter there for $68 plus taxes. Normal prices are $100 plus I think. They also come with half of the shifter bushings. You basically just need that long thingy that holds onto the shift linkage…I think.

i might be selling mine due to the fact that it pops out of 3rd gear…had it for less than a month, blue in color. any offers?
If it is popping out of third gear… is that the tranny’s fault or the shifter?
i have no idea. now its fine. so i’m selling the shifter.:-*
Got the shifter for Christmas! I need any advice you can give on installing this short shifter!!! Should I just pay the $40 to install? I can’t work near my house cuz my dad threatened to take my keys if he finds out I installed it… so should I just pay a shop, get a receipt, in case he finds out???
Oz, is that price in CDN or US, also do they have any more, I so can i send you some money and you pick me up one, I am the person who bought the headlights from you.
Ok now the true test is whether or not you are all still satisfied with your shifter. Any complaints or problems you might be having? I might be able to get the blue one for fairly cheap. How’s the blue is it an ugly shade? What bushings should I get for it?
BTW, do any of you have pics of the shifter itself and the shifter installed in the car? TIA.
Unfortunately I don’t have any pics of the shifter by itself… only a website link.

I do, however, have a pic of it installed in my car.

The installation took some time cuz it was my first time under my G2. At first the bushings (which came with the shifter) were tight, however, now the feeling is just great. A lot of people said “Give it time, it has to work in.” and they were right.
The only complaint is that since I’ve installed the short shifter, when I make right turns (moderate - hard) i hear a knock… not knocking… just one solid knock. I don’t know if it’s the shifter problem or something else, but I haven’t had time to check. If I do, I’ll post.
is the solo ss solid steel or just billet alluminum?
