Just want to spread the good news. I finally solved the “failed” strarting problem when then car gets hot. It was the main fuel relay. I went and purchased one at my local honda dealer for 68$ CND. Changing it was a snap and that headache problem is over…
Hey man, where you from?
Cool to have another Quebec member around!
Are you listed in the ‘full member listing’?
BTW, to stay on topic, I also had that MFR starting problem that got cured with a new relay!
Did it only work cuz it was nice and cool coming out of the box? Has it started regulary when you knew it was hot? You may yet have another episode. I hope you really did figure it out cuz that drives me nuts too!
Yeah it actually works. I did it too. Seems to have permanently solved the problem.

kewl.
dont you hate that when it happens? you have to sit there and wait anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes before the car starts and run. while you wait, you’re burning hot from the heat and you’re also pissed off. i know how you feel.
Yeah it really is inconvenient when you have to be at work and your car isn’t starting. I drove to work (20 miles) and stopped at the gas station on the same block as where I work. Went in to get a coffee and came out and the car was pulling that crap on me for like 5 minutes. I thought I’d have to tell the station manager not to tow my car cause it was out of commission, and then walk the rest of the way so I could get to work on time. But it ended up starting in time. Glad it’s fixed, it was something like $45 for the part. Installed in 10 minutes (I had to switch the brackets).

Mine crapped out on me also. But i’m too cheap to buy a new one. All i do now is just tap on the relay when i try to start the car. It beats spending whatever they charge at the acura dealership.
re: relay
Yep, that solved my problem too. I also had a faulty starter, but that when that wasnt’ working, the starter wouldn’t turn at all. After I had that replaced, I kept getting the turning but no start problem when the temp is very hot outside. Being that it is always hot in Chico meant that my car would hardly ever start. But good ole mister Rz0067 fixed me up good. :burnout:
Hey what’s up Answer !! I’m from Paspébiac (on the Gaspé coast). I’m getting added to the list after this message!
And yes,MeinTegra, I tried and tried to make it do it again and never did. Even at the hottest days…!
As the relay gets old the solder traces on the circuit board develop tiny cracks from the expansion and contraction during hot and cold cycles. If you want to “fix” your fuel relay, take a soldering iron to the connections and traces on the circuit board. Don’t over cook the components but just lay down some new solder. I’ve got the same relay in my '89 Civic Si and my '93 LS. Both have been refurbished this way.
