something stinks

My friend just bought a 94 integra and we took it for a spin tongiht and there was like a scretching comeing from somewhere that we couldn’t pin point from inside the car. it didn’t make the noise at frist but about 2 min into te ride When we got to my house we looked the car over and the left rear hub was SUPER hot. it stunk like hell too. it smelled like an clutch burning almost. could the smell be a brake thats stuck or something? it’s been sitting for about 4 months. or could it be something worse, like a wheel bearing? thanks for the help guys, my freinds really pissed about this.

Are you sure the mags itself is hot to the touch?

sounds like a brake caliper is stuck. did you check the calipers and the e-brake caliper?? wait, do integra’s have a seperate caliper for the e-brake?? maybe i should check, i know GM’s have a seperate caliper. anyways, sounds like the brake is stuck, the smell can be similair to a clutch burning…i smell both on the way down the big hill in the morning on 18-wheelers.

The e-brake cable is attached to the rear calipers.

ok, wasn’t sure…haven’t had to do much with the rear brakes, just clean them up. i know alot of sports cars such as porsche, corvette, viper and ferrari have a seperate caliper for the e-brake…this is so that you can set the brake and not worry about frying your main calipers after track use or if they are very hot. my dad’s 68 olds has this too…it has the “pursuit” suspension on it. but, it would be nice if those brakes were powered!!!
