Son of a .......

the other day i took off my valve cover, and was tightening it down and was on the last bolt, the one that u also use to tighten the spark plug wire cover down and snap, it busted…

so what exactly do i do to fix this do i have to get a new cover, or is it just a studd?

stud

All you gotta do is change the stud… check all other studs to see if they need replacing. As well, you might as well change the valve cover gasket and the spark plug seals. The stealership will rape you with those studs… there like $2-4 each!!!

thanks

Hmmm

I did the same thing, only with the bolt in the middle of the valve cover, the fuxxin thing just popped

And if you buy a new one…how would one go about changing it?

Honda made the heads so that the valve cover studs could be replaced. Remove the valve cover by taking all caps off and then you can see that the studs can be replaced. just take and 10mm open ended wrench or a long 10mm socket and you should be in business.

You will need some elbow grease to. If it’s difficult to remove, don’t use a breaker bar as you might strip the studs. As well, becareful because you don’t want the studs to fall in the head! If it does, you’ll have a hell of time trying to take it out!

You might also want to invest in a torque wrench too. They really help for stuff like that. Get a medium sized one…20lbs-120lbs.

Yeah, broke a stud here too. Dealership charged $9.50!!! Learned my lesson. I still can’t get the old one out though…it’s pretty much stuck and semi-stripped.
