Was advised in another forum to use brake cleaner to remove the sooty buildup around the rear of the car. Paint is white, no apparent clear coat. Just an old teg with original engine and over 300K on it. Burns about a quart of oil every two-three weeks and doesn’t seem to be getting worse, so I’m letting that ride. Brake cleaner and then what, rubbing compound. Will end up doing a super clean and wax when I get this soot out of the way, just don’t want to bury it under another coat of wax. Suggestions?
Brake cleaner might harm your paint.
I’ve personally always gotten soot of with water, soap and some elbow grease.
Cool, someone here at work said Simple Green works also.
