sounds like an exhaust leak...then car dies

Ok just a few hours ago I removed the front bumper on my 90 LS to replace it (got in small wreck a few months ago) and also to remove the AC lines right there because all AC is ripped out of my car…Anyways I do that and I also take the powersteering fluid reservoir out, and some of the tubes and hoses coming from that…The powersteering is not fully Deleted the pump is still attached but with no belt on it…anyways I finish up and put everything back together and start the car…sounds like an exhaust leak and car starts driving horribly. (no power, kinda sputtering)…I get to top of the street and car dies. Try to start it and hear a horrible noise. Look and my starter is cracked off at the one bolt that was holding it on. (did not know that lol)…So I got a starter at autozone havent put it on yet I need to get the other bolt for it Im going to do that tomorow…

Basically my question is does anyone have any Idea what I could have done when messing around with the front end because the car was running perfectly and now I know that 1.) it was driving like shit for the 2 blocks before it died, and 2.) I need to replace the starter, which will be done first thing tomorow. I just am looking for any help or advice anyone has because its my only car and I need it running asap…I havent had time to check much out tonight but anything would be greatly appreciated… THANKS!

ALso no check engine light and no ecu codes…thanks again

check your grounds? would be my best bet. hard to say. don’t know what all you removed

OK so while replacing the starter my girlfriend noticed a spark plug wire was not plugged into distributor (lol)…Would explain the car running the way it was im just not 100% if I knocked it out while replacing starter or if it was already out when car was driving poorly…anyways now that new starter is in It just makes the clicking noise…Its not like the noise ive heard before though where it is not spinning period…I can feel/hear it trying to turn flywheel but it wont almost like its jammed or something. A couple times I tried starting it it would turn over maybe only 1/4 or 1/2 of the way…I will go check grounds right now. Tomorow I will pull starter again and check teeth on flywheel…Im starting to get fed up with this need it fixed asap but with as much as I work I dont have much daylight to do it.

grounds and from what im reading it sounds like your battery is dead.

Where are the grounds located? All I know is the one on the valve cover…tried starting the car while getting a jump and still no start…

Ok had the new starter tested at Autozone and they said it was bad…I get it replaced and put the new one on and it gives me the same problem…bought new spark plug wires and car starts up fine …go figure lol
