spark issues. help only car

Yesterday on my way to work my da decided to let me get about 99% to work. I took off from a dead stop, shifter into second gear as soon as I shifted it sputtered and died. So after work I tried to start it, and once again no dice. So after admitting defeat I called a rollback. This morning I started looking/testing. The coils resistance was 1.5 ohms. After research I found the coils resistance should be in the range on 0.6-0.8 ohms. So I replaced the coil. Had spark. But wouldn’t run. After I sent the coil back with my father in law to return it. I noticed the ignition rotor hold down screw was m.I.a. I finally got it off after breaking it. And it had turned 40-50° so I put it back together with the old coil. Hit the key and nothing. Could it have been a combo of the coil and ignition rotor. It is getting fuel as well. I’ve got everything needed to run. Just won’t start/run.

5 speed.

Any help would/will be appreciated. Sorry if my grammar and or punctuation isn’t up to lists standards, I’m relatively new to the forum world

Do you have spark now, if so how good is the spark? 94

Fcm. I just put the new coil back in it ran for a few seconds and died. I pulled the plugs there covered in black soot. I put it on tdc. Its in time

Ok so here’s an update. Reinstalled the new coil and ended up having to replace the igniter. I had one laying around from a civic. which according to auto zone the part numbers were the same (ja179) installed it now the car runs. Pretty damn good too but the tach jumps around now. What could it be now

make sure that all the connectors on the igniter are tight because that can cause the tach to jump.

Give this a try

What JDM4R34LzZ said, the other posibility is the ICM you had “laying around” may be on it’s way out. 94

I’ll try that tomorrow morning. Fcm I’m thinking the same thing. But as long as it works until payday I’ll be one happy camper lol I can’t afford anymore unpaid days off

Ok another update. Problem it fixed. I replaced the ignition control module (igniter). And crimped the connectors to the icu. Teach don’t bounce and runs amazing. Thanks to all who helped.
