From time to time, I notice that sometimes the needle on my speedometer will wobble for no apparent reason. I can be driving on Baja 1000 territory and it will be reading fine, other times I could driving on freshly paved asphalt and it’ll look like as if the rpm needle was hitting the rev limiter.
Now here’s the thing… the speedometer cable does make a hell of a lot of noise, whether it’s a clip missing or it got kinked or something I’m not sure, but I don’t know if this is what’s actually causing the needle to wobble like that.
Anyone have any ideas what could be causing it if it’s not the cable itself? And if it is the cable, is there a quick fix so it will shut the heck up and stop wobbling the needle??
Thanks in advance all
Crap, I think I posted this in the wrong area of the forums :bang:
If this thread needs to be reposted in another area please do so. SORRY!!!
Just put a new speedo cable in it. Mine did that for a couple years and I just finally replaced it. Not too hard either and isnt too expensive.
agreed.
however if theres no clip holding the speedo cable into the actual metering device, the needle will just jump around in the guage. but if its making a bunch of noise just replace it

Once again, G2IC FTW
Many thanks guys, I’ll be looking into getting it replaced within a few weeks or so. The noise is starting to bother me to insanity and it always scares me into thinking a wheel is going to fall off or something lol thanks again!
