Does anyone know anything about this intake? I’m looking to get an intake. I would like to get the CAI but I cant find the combo with the bypass on ebay anymore. Any way the diameter of this thing is like 4.00" and its flexible to bend the way you want it. The only thing bad is there are no holes for the two vac lines. If I did get it i would probably mimic the aem formation but stop at the battery and have the filter parallel to the batt. Then drill two holes put the lines in and seal it. Would that be ghetto, rice, or both?
Either that or a 3.00" $20 joint.
both
just buy the cheap ebay intakes if you wanna go for the broke mans style other wise get the injen short ram, its a full 3inch which is bigger then the AEM which is 2.75
so bigger is better right? then what about this 4.00" intake? all i want to know is has anyone heard any thing about it thats all.
even if the intake tube is bigger it’s probably ribbed like dryer exhaust piping. that won’t help you out much. even if it’s smooth it size of the stock TB and Intake plenum will just cause a bottle neck.
bigger is not always better… for example, try sucking through a big straw and a smaller straw. its harder and requires more effort to draw in air from the bigger straw than the smaller one. air being drawn into the motor is limited by the piston movement drawing air into the cylinder, unless you have turbo.
wouldn’t the ribs end up making a funny noise? hmmmm
hmmmm
any one have opions about the K&N vs. a AEm intake? The AEm is way more expensive but is it better?
dont buy that ugly thing! Its all hype man… go with something like the AEM or Injen. I would find a singe peice design. the cheap ones are in two sections and then put togeter which may interfer with intake flow some. I like the AEM myself…the cold air is good but the short one is fine too. The cold air is more quiet but may yeid 1 more hp or so from the colder air off the line. The short ram sounds more aggresive if thats what youre after.
Just because it is in two sections does not mean its cheap. AEM used to be in two sections and Iceman intakes are two piece. Both top of the line.
AEM is better if you are looking for carb e.o# and dry-flo filter(non-oiled).
Bigger is not always better. Focus on length of pipe design, which determines power output.
Wouln’t a 2 peice be easier to put a by pass valve on? I personaly don’t like the idea of having water in my engine if I hit a big puttle. not to mention I don’t think I would notice a 1 or maybe 2 horse difference.
thanks
92lsv thanks man short ram it is thanks.
just got K&N cai. Love it!!!
Good smooth sound and more responsive on throttle:rockon:
I didn’t know K&N made a cai? I know the make the fipk one but cold air? Any pics?
I’m faily new here so I’m not sure how to load up pix. could them to u though if I knew how. If u shot me an e mail at RMTRL@cs.com on how too that would be awsome!
Intake system doesnt do much and sure wont suck more air as it already is. I find that if the TB/intake manifold is port match then the intake system probably wakes up a bit due to more air flow which in turn using a 2.75"=-3" max would probably yield the best result. Now if internal work has been done and so on like how the guy mention about having turbo system then yea having a 3" pipe is ideal but the smaller u go the faster spool you’ll get, but probably wont reach top end due to smaller piping and the charge compress will release the BOV already etc and so on. I am not all for sure but it just makes sense to me
as of right now my intake is the dryer hose and it actually sounds cool…sort of like a four barrel kicking in
