spun bearing????

k so i bought this motor for 200 bucks. it was broken down and one of the rods were missing the two big cups that sit between it and the crank( im guessin that that was the bearing??) both are all scratched up what do i do? i bought this to put in the da its a b18a1 so i figured it was good but i guess i got scammed. do i hve to get a new crank bearing and rod?

Sounds like it’s gonna need to be honed and maybe a full rebuild

due to your lack of proper terminology as far as engine internals go…

you might just want to take it to a professional, a machine shop in your are will be able to tell you if the block/crank etc are salvagable.

save yourself the trouble.

someone got ripped off. yea i highly doubt u have the knowledge and tools to at least spec the motor and check ur bearing clearances, piston clearances, and so forth. most of that can be done with a plastigauge i guess. but was the motor assembled when u got it? and were the bearings missing while it was still together n all? or did u buy something that was disassembled?

look!!!

Yea if u have no tools or dont have the knowledge to work on motors yes i suggest taking it to some that know or works on car cuz dont a rebuild is not that easy and for the nick name u gave the part highly shows that u dont no wat u doing and u only need the main bearings it called by the way thats all u need but how the other guys said yeah if the engine that far taken a parts already ur better off doing a COMPLETE rebuild …

Some one should limit your ability to pass out so called advice, you require more help than he does!

Agreed. I weep for the slow agonizing death of the English language.

You don’t know that.

Definitely take it to someone that has the tools to check it out for you. My block “looked” ok, but I just found out that it needs the deck milled, needs bored +.020, and the crank needs polished, ground, and speedi-sleeves installed on it to keep my rear seal from leaking. Would have never guessed all that if I wouldn’t have taken it in there… I could have rebuilt it without knowing and shelled it in 1000 miles and been back to square 1. My 2 cents.
