Spun rod bearing in my B17.. LS motor swap?

anyone have input on swapping out my B17 motor for a b18a and just putting my vtec head on that? Is it detuning my car or better? I spun a bearing on #2 piston and I believe the crank has to be worked… I have an extra LS integra (auto) that I can just pull the motor out of and swap… Do I have to change computers too? Both cars are 92’.

yes, you can attach your B17 head to your B18 block. its called LS/vtec, searching will result you in an abundance of threads on how to accomplish such a feat.

The b17 and b16a block are the same, you could put a matching b16 crank, pistons, and ecu in.

Would the ecu I have currently for my car work for a B16 bottom end? Thanks for that input, that’s what I was looking for cause I can come across that pretty cheap. the B17 stuff is hard to get.

must get the ecu chipped and tune if you do run the ls/vtec

yeah. I’ve done some calling around and I’m just gonna do the LS/vtec swap. given the fact that I already have the complete motor I should be able to save money… I dunno what the power difference will be from my B17 to this new setup but I hope it will be faster then it was…

From what I know and maybe you guys can correct me if I’m wrong…

all I have to do is…

  1. remove current setup (engine/tranny)
  2. remove head/tranny from block…
  3. bolt head/tranny to new block
    BTW… and I know this might be a stupid question… but… My integra has no power steering or ac or anything… I don’t really care about the ac but can I pull the power steering pump and add that stuff from the 4 dr LS as well and put it all in my GS (the car I’m swapping it all into)? Also, the 4 dr has new motor/tranny mounts, but the trans is an auto… will that mount fit my gs which is 5 spd? Also, just another thing… I have a new clutch on the B17, will that stuff fit this B18?
  4. Install everything back into the car… plug and play like…
  5. CAR SHOULD RUN RIGHT???

which dash harnes are you looking for? The one in my stock LS integra I will have … it’s a 92 LS integra… 4 dr if that matters and has an auto tranny… is that what you are looking for? LSJDMTEG

i recommend you read that before you attempt this. It’s not just a bolt together procedure. You will also want to upgrade the rod bolts on the LS as they are the weak point in the system

just my 2 cents i would rebuild the b17 just fir the fact the engine is so rare.

well… I just got a full ls vtec kit and B18c head that’s complete for 350… head gasket and tap and blox sandwich oil adapter… everything… SO…

I wanted to stick with the B17 but sourcing parts is a biatch and I can’t wait the time to send my crank in and get it back and then source a new rod and oversized bearings… I just don’t have the time, I needed the car running yesterday ya know?

So unfortunatly out with the B17 :frowning: and in with the ls/v. I’m gonna sell the complete B17 with all stock internals and B16a2 intake mani and pr3 ecu here pretty quick though…

yeah, I dig… But this car was hacked up when I bought it… someone swapped this B17 in and did a shitty job… cut 02 sensor, random wires… The car is a GS model factory, and it has the S1 tranny in it too… It ran great till it broke but to be honest, if anything, I’m cleaning it up… when I’m done with this swap it will be ALOT cleaner in the bay.

Another thing… aren’t 92-93 gsr’s obd1??? I have an OBD0 Pr3 ecu plugged in… and obviously someone wired everything else, I have a string of red wire from the ecu to my vtec soleniod… This things a mess.

I don’t have the p61 throttle body, I have the skunk 2 70 mm throttlebody. and I do have a vtec solenoid but i’m trying to sell it as a package with the head that I’m selling. give me some more time to sell this head, if nothing happens then I’ll hit you up and we can work something out.

how much u selling the complete b17 for?

at this point, I’d take 400 for the B17. For extra I’d include the PR3 or else i’ll use it for my new setup.

The only things I don’t have is the distributor, and wiring harness. but I still have everything else… I’ve pulled the head off the block but the complete block is still chillin in teh car. LMK, I need money to pick up a few more parts for my lsvtec set up.

You would you sell the short block for 220? I live in weancthee washington so i would be able to pick it up…actually nvm…mine is toast too…ill just go a different way
