sqeaking in the hatch

I have a really irritating squeaking sound while im driving towards the hatchback. I thought it was the trunk flap thing but messed around with it and its not. I found the thread in the teg tips but the link was broken so i need some help.

It will be tough to get rid of that…we all pretty much have it…

My squeak came from the latch. Wrapped some black tape around it, good to go.

I had that irritating squeak too but adjusted those little rubber stoppers and never heard it since.

when i go sideways on a bump my trunk makes the sqeaking sound also. it gets annoying sometimes…

Two common squeaks coming from the trunk are the panels that are on the underside of the trunk or it could also be the trunk latch.

For underpanels… just unscrew it and put a thin sheet of doublesided tape on the underside where it contacts the metal then screw it back up… problem solved!

For the latch, just wrap the metal hook/tab with electrical tape… problem solved! :whisper:

Squeaking-Be Gone!

Mine squeaked & chirped as though I had a flock of birds back there.
How I fixed mine:
opened the hatchback
cleaned all the hatch channels thoroughly from top to bottom with degreaser or you can use Armor All.
heavily greased all of the rubber bumpers on the hatch cover (the part that lifts up)- you can use any grease that comes out of a tube, I used bicycle grease
greased the spots on the channels where those bumpers make contact
For good measure, I greased the latch as well.
Voila - no more annoying squeaks.

i read something about using thin plastic/teflon washers.
i wasnt sure exactly where they were suposed to be used but it makes a little bit of sense now.

i supose this roll of teflon coated tape may come in handy yet.
