So I’m thinking I’d like to go with a set of stainless steel lines that I can put on all four calipers on my 1990 GS. Word on the street is that they’re a good upgrade to go with and they can put more stopping power behind the pedal.
First of all, which company makes a good product that won’t fail? I have a fairly decent budget to work with and I don’t mind paying for peace of mind when it comes to my brakes. Any companies I should stay away from like the plague?
Second, I presume it’s pretty much a straight bolt-on affair, followed by a very thorough bleeding of the calipers? Anything I should know that might go wrong?
Suggestions and advice is most welcomed in advance!
I run goodridge and the fitment was perfect. From what I remember through research on this forum, its what was recommended. I only paid 80 bucks for a set on ebay.
Cool, from what I’ve seen so far Russel’s seems to be a good name and if you’ve has success with Goodridge then at least I’ve got a positive for that. So I guess either way is a sure thing? And $80 on ebay is pretty damn awesome, that comes with crush washers and everything else needed right? I’ll have to check it out, many thanks man:cool:
I ran russel’s brake lines on my first DA and the fitment was not all perfect, I had to adjust the brackets and lines to they had enough play while turning. Im getting goodridge lines next since Ive seen they are a staight bolt on with no modding needed to fit.
got russels on mine. fit was alright. not perfect, but did the job
just to get technical on you though, ss lines don’t actually increase braking power. only pedal feel
i have the goodridge ss lines and fitment was perfect. they include new copper crush washers and everything so you won’t be missing anything to do the job. money well spent.
^^i usually try and reuse the old washers whenever possible. i’ve found the brand new washers tend to leak some of the time, while the reused ones, when put back in their same order, have never given me problems. just my 2 cents
i always put new ones at the shop whenever i do calipers/lines and never had one leak ever after 5 years.
theres also techna fit which i have and they fit perfect and hold up great one thing though if you get this kit do not use the banjo bolts they give you they snap easy just reuses the old banjo bolts.
personal preferance, i guess. whatever works for you
