hey i just did something i think is pretty kool i made my car were u cant start by turning the key for security perposes but u have to press the horn button to start it up. so i moved the horn button to something that says engine start clearly to see on the dash. what do you think about the idea?good alarm for me.:rockon:

write up please? how did you do this? i wanna start my car with my aftermarket steering wheel. i dont need the horn to be on another switch because my car has no horns
that sounds kinda scary. hopefully you don’t set your car on fire. i would talk to fcm before trying that.

I don’t think the OP was trying to hide this. It’s a good idea since the thief won’t expect that the start button sets off the horn… imagine a thief stealing the car and tries to start the car with the push button and all of a sudden… HONK HONK HONK!
That shit will scare the fuck out of anybody… and not to mention wake up the neighborhood during the middle of the night…
Another idea is to disable the headlights so the thief can’t see and drive the car off and risking getting caught by the cops for no headlights…

well iceman if theyare looking good for them but they aint finding my car. I was just tryin to help my fellow da members out with idea so why be so neg. about? and for the person stealing the car its a 50/50 chance to push the right button so its on them to find out:shock:
Well wouldn’t you think by the thief knowing that some of the older cars have a push button start button then that means there’s some kind of theft deterrent (sp?) and he’ll be more hesitant to break into the car in the first place?
I think it’s a good idea what the OP did… I was thinking about this for some time as well but really didn’t know how to wire it up…

Actually, I had this on several of my RX-7’s and at one point on my Integra.
This is over 5 years ago.
I figured that a thief will avoid trying to blow the horn while trying to steal the car.
