starter,alternator,ignition

I have a '91 LS which I very rarely drive because my job keeps me out of town. About two weeks ago I went to start it up and it wouldn’t start. The headlights are still burning bright and the alarm is still armed. I gave the battery a jump and it still wouldn’t start. I thought it was the alternator because the stereo is completely dead. But after my attempted jump and it didn’t start i am lead to believe it is the starter or the solenoid that is connected to the starter. Has anyone else had this type of problem? Do they make a aftermarket alternator with more current for stereo systems for this model? If so does anyone have any suggestions? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Does it turn over?
Headlights on, after you turn the key do they dim?
Have you tried to compression start it? (manual of course)

do u hear the fuel pump turning on?

I haven’t really had the time to check on the car again and do a thorough diagnostic of the engine. The lights do dim after the key is turned though. What do you mean by a comression start? I do not hear anything come on although I do hear a low clicking sound. my brother has a integra and he said it was probably something small acura starters hardly ever go bad. I will devote this Saturday to fond out what the problem is, thanks for the suggestions.

If it’s not even cranking, check your starter connections first. Might be something just rattled loose or got corroded.

If that doesn’t fix it, take the starter out and check it out. Could just be the solenoid.
