I have a 92 da that I did auto 2 manual ran fine for 3 yrs, so there is no clutch switch, and I think no starter relay also, (being previously auto) correct me if am wrong. So when I did the manual swap I spliced the two black/white for starter and the for the key lock grn/white-black. So recently my no start has gotten worse so I’ve been jumping the starter to start it, very dangerous I know.I have been cleaning up the grounds and moved battery to trunk, but anywayz my girl tried to start it and the da almost ran her over…>she did check gear, anyways she drop the wire I had going to the starter solenoid on a hot wire and left it there approx 3 mins. Now my car wount start, I replaced the starter and had the old one tested and it was good. The starter wount engage even when jumped just clicks, key does the sam thing satrter click, I traced the wire from the solenoid and some how car started but wount start again unless push started. When I turn the key several time the splice 12 pin connector black wires get hot, would it be that the ignition switch went bad when the wire was left on positive wire?
Recap
92 da auto to manual spriced nuetral safety switch
Replace starter
Don’t have a clutch switch
Played with the wire in the engine bay car started once
Hot wire left on solenoid started this havoc
I have to push start and it sucks
A portion of the wire along the starter circuit overheated and created way too much resistance too allow the starter solenoid to engage (only enough amps to make that click noise). I would (and I did this too my ride and no longer have starter problems) rewire from the ignition switch all the way to the starter with all new wires.

Start by doing a bypass jump, do not use any of the starter “signal” wire… http://honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2961164&highlight=fcm+bypass+jump, if the starter works, [engine starts] then do as ng8650 suggests, rewire from ign. switch directly to the starter motor solenoid input.94
That is a very good write-up fcm. I wish I would’ve seen that write-up before I replaced my starter which was not the problem. The wiring on our vehicles are averaging 20yrs and increasing resistance on the circuits. Recently the bearing on my fan/blower motor went out and I could smell the wires cooking as I was trying to use my heater. One of these days I’m going to do a complete rewire on my DA.

Well today I was messing with the ignition switch wiring and I noticed that I had a small blue wiring by the fuse box that was all melted but I couldn’t figure where it came from or what it was. I then unplugged my §§§§§,starter solenoid and just kind of wiggled the wiring a lil bit and walaaa the car now starts all day long, I know this is only temporally and I am planning on repacing the whole engine bay harness that I worked so hard to tuck and under dash harness ,since I’ve had three electrical fires on this car so far, if anyone has a full harness uncut lmk. Thanx guys these cars I swear have monthly periods. Can I wire a toggle switch without needing the key to start the car or no?
