Starter Solenoid Availablilty?

Are solenoids no longer available for my 91 Integra 5 speed? All the parts stores tell me no, that I have to buy their $175-200 starter instead. I do see someone on eBay selling a rebuild kit for the solenoid for $30 with shipping. Anyone have any experience with that?

I’m getting the symptoms where intermittently I hear the solenoid clicking in and the instrument lights either don’t dim or dim very little. Several tries will get it going. When I catch a cooler day, I’ll try rotating the battery connection stud slightly to see if that helps.

Thanks,
Dave

be sure all your connections to the starter are tight. if so, you can just try jumping the starter directly from the battery. if it doesn’t go, the problem is with the starter

but does the rebuild kit work? or is it a maybe i will maybe it wont risk???

It got so bad last weekend that I couldn’t get it to start. Fortunately I was at home. I tried twisting the battery terminal of the solenoid back a little, but that didn’t help. Stopped by a local auto electric shop the other day and they said they get about $65 to rebuild it, that is if I remove it. I finally found the right combination to get the lower bolt out and took it in today. I’m expecting it back tomorrow afternoon or Saturday morning. Looking forward to getting back in my Teggy after a week of driving the Weasel (Mercury Sable). Thanks for the suggestions.
