Starting Problem...Please Help!!!

Ok, my car died out all of a sudden in a very busy intersection today. It cranks over fine, I pulled the oil cap off and saw the internals spinning, so I know the t-belt is still ok. I checked for spark and no spark…

I did a search already, I just need some extra info. I’m almost certain it’s the igniter everyone keeps talking about. I’m just a little confused as to which do you replace? The IGNITER or the IGNITOR COIL? I believe they’re different parts, but if I’m wrong, please correct me? Oh, and I haven’t checked the fuel yet, but I know for a fact that I don’t have spark. Please help, which part should I change?

well its up to which part is bad. test it with a multimeter and you’ll find out. try checking ur fuses too. i didnt get a spark once when the ECU fuse went out. i think it was the ECU fuse, dont remember which one.

i have the same problem man. Its our cars, when its really humid out condensation builds up in the distributer cap. take off cap and use blow dryer to clean it. I just replaced my igniter coil, ****en expensive and everyone said that was my problem. Dont replace it, its not the problem. Also the other guy seems right too, cuz i went to check for the blinking light on the ecu and there was none. So it could be a fuse also. Or my friend was telling me about a safety switch or some ****. All I know is, my car is sitting in my garage cuz of the same problem u have, it cranks, but no spark, its not the wires or plugs either.

Thanks for the replies guys. This really sucks. about 3 weeks ago, I get my car painted, then a short time ago, some dude dings my newly painted door. On top of that, I spent $400 bucks on new tires (less than a week old), now I found out I have a couple of nails in them. Then yesterday, my car dies in the middle of one of the most busiest intersections we have in the city and I hold up traffic to push my car aside.

I think I’m just gonna replace my Igniter. I know it’s not the spark plugs, I just changed them about a few days ago. It can’t be the distributor because I changed the entire assembly about a year ago. It has to be the igniter or coil, but I guess I’ll take a chance at the igniter first.

could also be the Main Fuel Relay, check to see if you hear your fuel pump when you put the key to the ON position. also check the fuse #24 labelled alternator solenoid valve.

HTH!
