Starting problem!! PLEASE HELP!

Okay so I have a db1 with a b18b1 in it. Nothing special, pretty much stock. Car has been starting normally with no issues. Then suddenly for a couple of days, everytime I go to start the car, it will start slowly as if the battery isn’t giving off enough power. Sometimes it would crank and not turn over. I’ve gotten the battery and starter checked out, both are good as expected. Never had an issue with it thus far. As far as I see, all my grounds are connected in the engine bay. Nothing lose or hanging that would possibly cause this. Then after a few times, it would stop cranking and just click click… That’s it. Main relay seems to be good unless its getting burnt out. My fuel pump still primes like normal so I’m pretty sure I’m getting fuel. Then all of a sudden, as I try to start the car. I held the key for a couple seconds and then I see a little bit of smoke rise up. I’ve checked as far as I can see underneath the dash on the driver side to look for any burned/disconnected wires. After that, no cranking at all. Sometimes it wouldn’t even click as I try to start it. All fuses checked out good, none were blown. I also tried to jump my starter from some things I’ve read and says it should fire right up… I tried but it did not.

I just want someones input on this. I’m thinking its a bad ground/wire or no longer connected that’ll keep it from starting. Can someone help me pin point where to start to look at. I’m kind of asking for someones expertise with this.

If anything, please don’t be afraid to ask and I will answer you to the best of my knowledge to help make it a little easier. I’ve been trying to figure it out for days but I can’t find a conclusion. I’m not good with wiring. But I do think it has to do with a wiring from the harness inside the cab.

Cranking and turning over is the same thing… Not being anal, just trying to make sure we’re all on the same page…

If your car is cranking, cranking, cranking, and then finally ends up just clicking, that is indicative that your battery is getting below 12V.

Now, that doesn’t mean the battery is bad… it means that you are taxing the battery until the voltage drops.

If you have to crank and crank and crank the car until it finally starts, you may have a fuel delivery issue or spark issue.

How old are the plugs? The fuel filter? The cap and rotor?

main fuel relay might be the problem. its under you dash. Unscrew the bolt that holds it up and tap it or the metal plate that it should be resting on after you remove the screw while trying to start the car. Mine pulled that move already drove me crazy for 3 weeks lol. Hope this helps. It is pretty easy to fix if this is the problem.
