Steering Wheel/Dash Noise

There is prolly a thread for this already but I’ve tried multiple words in the search box and cannot find anything. Some days I have this slight noise coming from the drivers side of the dash. I want to say it almost sounds like a really faint/small grinding noise that is also speed related(I speed up it speeds up, I slow down and it’s slows down). I know it’s not anything that I’ve put underneath the dash(alarm, etc.), and the person who had it before me has taken it in to the dealer also with no luck. I also know I can’t hear the noise outside while going down the road either. The only thing that I’m thinking is the half-shaft since I have no idea when that was replaced(somehow sending the noise through the car)?

Spray some wd-40 into the speedo cable,

first make sure all ur panels are on nice and tight. sometime when two plastic pieces rub against each other (increases with more vibration like from going faster) it will sound like a grind or maybe even a squeak. i suggest removing 1 panel at a time, and test drive maybe even for a day… if u don’t find it then take off another…

also make sure u have all ur grommets on the firewall filled, u don’t wanna be getting noise coming in thru there and making a mistake thinking its an interior sound. i would’ve originally said its ur driver wheel bearing but u said u can’t hear it outside. usually driving next to another car will help sounds bounce off so u can hear ur car better, might wanna try that on the street or freeway. (be careful tho and don’t make it seem as if ur are crazy and are after them or something).

maybe it is ur speedo cable, but i’d suggest replacing it instead of spraying it cuz that is just a temporary fix if that is the issue.
