I have had this problem for a while and i dont know what it is, I have a few ideas but not sure. At about 90 - 110 kms/hour my steering wheel begins to shake back and forth. and then when I put my brakes on at that same speed it gets worse. I have play in my upper control arm bushings, could that be the problem?
Anyone have any suggestions
could be:
- alignment
- unbalanced wheels
- bent wheel
- warped rotors since you mentioned it got worse when braking
take your rims off. if they’re packed with mud or dust, clean 'em up, put them back on and try it out. if it still does it, take your car to a tire shop and have them balance the wheels.
I had the wheels balenced about 4months ago that helped the problem. I dont think it is my rotors cause they are pretty new and it doesn’t shake when brakes applied at slow speeds.
Check your axles/cv’s …or have a shop check them for you.

Yep, thats what the problem with mine was - although if it’s more under brakes I’d be inclined to suspect the rotors.
rotors
hey my teg shakes big time when i apply brakes at high speed, or any speed for the matter, it shakes. I just got new front tires, brakes, and new axel (driver side), tires were balanced. i dont know a lot about rotors, but they look orange (rust i guess), but someone told me i either need them turned or buy new ones:
couple of questions:
-
what does the shop do when they turn the rotors? can i do it? how much (est.) would that cost?
-
how much for new rotors? how many would i need to replace?
-
will all this solve my problem?
just got my teg a month ago, so sorry if i sound like an amateur.
