Steve , Dan Engine code question.....

Hey Guys,

Im getting kinda confused here, i keep hearing all these engine codes and its throwing me off this is what i know as of so far.

B18a ( My 90 LS Engine )
B18b/c (94-96 Teg engine?)
B16a (JDM Vtec 90-93 Engine)
B18c (90+ GSR Motor?)

Could you guys list all of the engines you know of? Thanks!

Ryan

B18A1 came in the 90-93 RS, LS and GS tegs.

B17A1 came in the 92-93 GS-R.

B18B came in the 94+ LS and GS models

B18C1 came in the 94+ GS-R models

B18C5 is the Type R engine.

B16A is from Japan. I don’t want to say anything else on that cause I’m not totally sure which cars it came from.

B16B is the Civic Type R engine.

Anymore questions?

-Steve

maybe we should archivethis

Ryan, go to the teg tips page and click the enige swap guide…under there is a B-Series Engine Spec page in Excel format. That should answer all of your questions. Best of luck.

Jus makin a couple updates…

the B18a1 was from 90-91 RS/LS/GS
the B18a2 was from 92-93 RS/LS/GS
i think.

and there are a number of versions of the b16a as outlined is the swap guide. USDM/JDM…civic and integras

oh and B20b/z is from the CRV
H22a is from the prelude
F series motors are accords
D series motors are single cam civic motors

People put b20 engines in there tegs dont they? The CRV isnt that Honda’s SUV ?

There is no such thing as a B18A2. The 92-93 B18A1s had 10 more horsepower and 6 more ft/lbs of torque but they were still designated B18A1.

as e-da9 said: there is no such thing as a ā€œb18a2ā€ Its just a made up engine code that for some reason people feel they have to use to tell apart the 92-93 integra engines—so, please… all 90-93 rs/ls/gs integras are b18a1’s.

also, to clear up some of the b16a issues.

first off, there is NO such thing as a ā€œb16a1ā€. Many people use that code to name 89-91 jdm b16a’s ----but they are WRONG! This is another engine code that does not exist.

all jdm b16 engines are labeled ā€œb16aā€ They don’t have any number after them. However all jdm b16a’s aren’t the same. the 89-91 b16a’s (found in jdm integra xsi’s and civic sir’s) have 160hp and of course are non obd. 92+ jdm b16a’s (found in 92-93 integra xsi’s, and civic sir’s) have 170hp and are obd1 or obd2. The 10hp is due to higher compression and slightly better cam profiles.

the b16a2 and b16a3 are usdm engines. Both have 160hp, and came in the del sol and the 99+ civic Si’s.
