noticed one day that the rotor was really really hot, much more than usual. you could feel the heat a foot away. i figure the caliper is sticking because it was really hard to move the rotor. so i took the brakes off and inspected them, found i needed new pads, just installed them (B*tch), im wondering how i might get this caliper from sticking??? and i havent been driving the car very much, i think that may have something to do with it?? me need help!!!:bawl: caliper
find the helms manual online (the URL is posted on this board pretty much once a day)
download the brakes chapter and read up on how to disassemble/inspect/reassemble the calipers.
You won’t need many parts – a few seals and that’s pretty much it (it shows you which parts to replace). Then you just clean everything up, use the appropriate grease when you’re putting it together, and voila… a well-functioning caliper
When you re-assemble the caliper, use brake fluid to lubricate the piston, cylinder and rubber.
I’d say you’re better off replacing the caliper with a remanufactured one because it’s gonna be a time consuming headache to rebuild it yourself. Just my opinion. There’s only two bolts holding the caliper on so it should be quick to replace. And they’re only $50.
I have to agree with you. I replaced both my rear calipers. You never know if you have the right tools once you start taking stuff apart.
rotors
hey i think i have the same problem, i just replaced the brake pads and put in new front axels w/ new tires. It stopped the major shaking of the car while driving. But when i press the brakes lightly at high speed, the whole car shakes and doesnt stop very well. when i park the car, the 2 back pads look like they are still on the rotors. when im in the highway, going about 80mph i let go of the gas and the car slows down way to fast, so im thinking the brakes are dragging on the rotors. What do I do?
Any help greatly appreciated
Peace
check and see if your brakes are really really hot, then you will know if they are sticking, that how i found out with mine and it was kinda driving funny

Look a few lines up - replace your caliper.
