Sticky Accelerator Pedal Assembly

No, I’m not driving a Toyota. It’s a 92 Integra RS. Ok, here’s the problem. When I release my foot from the gas pedal and reapply it, it requires a little extra push at the very beginning of the acceleration. This causes it to jerk slightly, which is very annoying when I drive.

I have peeked my head down there to see whats going on and to apply some lubricant to loosen up whatever could be sticking. Here’s what I saw. The mount that is attached to the floorboard is bolted in securely, but the gas pedal is a little loose where the rod goes through the mount. So when I step on the pedal, it tilts sideways very slightly and then begins to pull the accelerator cable.

My questions are: Are there suppose to be any plastic grommets fitted inside the holes of the mount where the rod goes to tighten it. Are there any cool aftermarket replacements?

im not sure of plastic grommets but im too lazy to look for a big guy, but have u check to make sure you dont have kinks in the line int he engine bay or some sort of blockage?

also how loose is your throttle cable.

throttle cable is straight. Nice smooth curve to the throttle body. I have pinpointed the issue to the gas pedal. When I step on it, it moves sideways before actually pulling the cable. I’m thinking of removing it. It can be disassembled and I want to wrap the rod that goes through the hole with teflon to fill the gap which could prevent the initial wobble before being depressed.
