Just looking to see if anybody has ever had their hatch on their DA stick when you go to close it, by stick I mean the latch doesn’t catch and you have to slam it a million times, if so has anybody found a solution to this because I’ve actually had to slam mine so much that the sheetmetal is pushed in and sort of bowed in, any information or solution to fixing this I would appreciate it. -Ken
I have the same issue. I shimmed the hook, that worked for about a day. Gonna play with the latch this week. I’ll let you know if I figure anything out… you do the same.
i solved this issue on my car about 2 years ago. check the teg tips

thank you so much for that DA, I searched but couldn’t find anything on it, quick question tho, with putting the washers in there will the hatch sit just a hair higher or is it not noticeable? the only reason I ask is just out of shear curiousity and just in case anybody else is wondering
read the write up bro…
Didn’t see the write up, but that’s what I did… worked shortly. Lol.
then you did it wrong… put more washers until it works properly…
take the striker off the hatch and put it in the latch on the trunk. do this to test the operation of the latch. if it works everytime then it is not at fault. the striker cant be to blame seeing how it is nothing more than a piece of metal.
if the latch works properly then you need to add more washers until the trunk closes like it should…
No, I engineer precision aerospace parts and have been building cars forever. I’m not an idiot. Haven’t had time to fuck with it anymore. I have already tested the latch that’s why I shimmed the striker first… I think I need to shim it a little less, but more than it was. Considering my hatch sits too high now anyways. Gonna grab a bunch of various shim stock at work and handle it lol.
I did shim fix over a year ago, still works flawless and hatch sits normal. Doesn’t take much to fix it.
what does that have to do with anything? no one said you were an idiot. you engineer parts and build cars, thats great… i fix fighter jets, more specifically, various models of the f-15… so what.
if the latch is functioning properly then the washer fix should work for you as it has everyone else. what is different about your situation that it is not working?
Well just like I said in the post, I don’t have time to fuck with piddly crap lol… ended up being shimmed too much, just need to play with it after I cut some shim stock at work rather than using washers I had laying in the garage. It closed good like twice, then the same shit started again. And now its shimmed too high up so it doesn’t touch the hatch pin. I suppose it just irritated me when you tried to tell me I shimmed a striker wrong lol, it is far from rocket science.
