stiff clutch and shifter

Any one have any idea why both clutch, and shifter are stiff? how can i loosen this up. i have stock clutch its about 4yrs old with a dc short shifter cut 2"… ive got to teach my chick to drive stick

I just put a b&m short throw in my teg and ran in to a similar problem. I don’t know if this is the case for you however. In the middle of the heat shield the two screws that hold it to the bottom of the car hold it too close to the shift linkage. It is very stiff and a little difficult to get in to gear. To fix it i took the heat shield off and dented the sh|t out of it so that it wouldn’t rub anymore. Worked like a charm. An idea for you to try:confused:

Or you could just remove the whole freaking heatshield, easier then bending it an dputting it back

Did you try this? Any problems? How long has it been like that? I’m curious because if you have no problems I’d like to go ahead at take the whole thing out. thanks

I’ve had my heatshield off for almost 2 years now. No problems whatsoever. I haven’t felt the shiftknob get hot either (using skunk 2 shiftknob).

thanks guys… ill give it a try what about my stiff azz clutch

got the same problem with my clutch. I think my left foot has developed more muscle than my right foot because of having a daily workout with my stiff clutch. would changing the whole clutch help? Or can we just replace that spring thing that makes the clutch from going back up. Anybody?

Ya I have the same problem with the stiff clutch. It also (when first using it before warm up, and sometimes also when warmed up) makes, like a rubbery sound when engaging it. What would that be also?
