Hey guys, I decided to replace my O2 sensor today and after doing that my car still bogs from 1,000 to about 2,700. What else could be wrong? I’m also running really rich. I’ve used injector cleaner everytime I filled up for about a week (3times) put in some octane booster, made sure my throttle cable was tight. Any ideas would be great.
This happened to my talon also, my problem was the temp. sensor. Because if it is bad it could be telling the car it is at -30 so the computer dumps mad fuel in the car. I am not sure this is your problem but its worth a shot. Watever you change on your car reset the computer before you start it up.
hey monsier i got the same problem, its probably just the city driving… but say if i where to go to exit 40 on the grandcentral and back half my tank is gone!! do you get alot of white smoke when you rev your car at high rpms?, if so, it must be related to the problem., i have the same problem but it cant be my headgasket becuase my coolant level hasnt changed for 6 months… i’ll let you know what the deal is when i find out
similar problem here… puffing a little white smoke… but my hesitation is mostly near 3K… if I disconnect the O2 sensor or the temp sensor, everything works fine… i’m lost…
3 weeks ago my chack engine light came on out of nowhere and lost all power, It ended up that the rotor had chewed up the electrodes on the dist. cap. I replaced this and the samething happend, pulled off the cap and noticed the rotor had a lot of play. and when I pulled the distributor out the gear had seized. So I got a remanufactured dist. Put it on and my timing was completely retarded and threw a check engine light. So I went to a junk yard and pulled a dist. from a manual teg, put it on and my timing seemed a little off still (which is still a problem). Tonight on the highway I pulled up next to my friend with a 90LS (same s mine) he has an intake, I’ve got i/h/e (not that they really make that much of a difference), and he raped me from 55 up to redline. His car feels like it has a hell of lot more torque as well.
What else can do? Where is the Temp Sensor? Thanks in advance
And both dist. Ibought were for a 90 teg (just wanted to clarify that just incase)
Originally posted by Burnsie Ok, my car is doing the same thing, as well as running rich, can it be th temp sensor if i have no check engine light and my temp gauge is fine?
Yup, it could be the temp sensor. The sensor could be working(not giving a CEL), but giving false information to the ECU. The temp gauge isn’t related to the temp sensor, there is another sensor for the temp gauge.
you could also have skipped a tooth . That’s what happend to me. I’m in the long process of fixing it now. If you get a chance take you valve cover off and turn your engine over by hand. Make sure that everything lines up alright. HTH
check cooling sys for air bubbles or vapour lock temp sensor thinks its cold but eng is hot elevate front of car+bleed sys well front bumper at least 18-24" off ground this is only suggestion would have to see car to know for sure like whats my shirts color? :whoa:
