still having problems

any suggestions would help. last month when i was at dans house we fixed a few seal where oil was leaking. just last week i fixed another one but im still leakin oil. its leaking right by my block code. i really think its comin from the head. i dont want it to be but ive changed just about every seal.

thx for the help guys

did you clean it up really good and then drive it around a little and see where exactly its leaking from? usually you can’t tell for sure where its coming from until you clean it and let it leak again…then you can catch that sucker red handed!

cam end plug?
vtec solenoid gasket?
valve cover gasket?
head gasket? (hopefully not :uhoh: )

those first 3 ive done plus i had my cam seals done on the other side by dan. i dunno but i fear that its my head gasket:( oh well

thx for the help colin:)

there are only 2 other things i can think of, and they don’t seem very likely:
-distributor o-ring. seems a bit far from the block code for that to be the problem. but it might be worth replacing since its easy and cheap in comparison to a new head gasket

-cam holder caps. the caps on the dist side of the motor require that you put a little hondabond on them before installation. Not sure how easily oil would leak out or exactly where it would go…just sort of a shot in the dark, lol.

I just went out and looked at my motor and thats all i can see in that area that would be leaking oil. Anything else around there that may be loose looks like it’d leak coolant, not oil.

so far this diagnosis ain’t lookin too good :frowning: good luck ryan!

Ryan,

My guess is that your cam end plug as well as the VTEC solenoid seals are bad. I highly doubt your head gasket is a problem. In fact, didn’t we do a leak down and compression test on your motor? I remember it being extremely good. Call me if you have any questions. There are two seals on the VTEC solenoid that can and probably are bad. I have to replace them on my CRX as well. Take care and best of luck man.

Dan

thx colin im appreciate the help and trouble you went through to check you car and think of ideas of what it maybe. true g2ic at its best.

dan- when i was in la jason told me i should replace my vtec solenoid gasket. i did that and it looks clean around that area. now my cam seal is an str one. that also looks clean. anyways we did do a comp test. i think it was 215 210 195 215. if im not mistaken and leakdown was good as well.

ill call you tomorrow or maybe even friday because i have some other ? and id like your advice on my tranny.btw did you happen to get my card in the mail last week;)

i know it wasnt much. just wanted to show all my appreciation to you and tami.

Yes I did, it was much appreciated (although not necessary) ;). I’ve been meaning to call or e-mail you but keep getting side tracked. You know me . Anyway, call anytime. I’d be happy to help.

thx dan i appreciate it. i understand about the busy part, just started my new job at kaiser. but yeah i wanted to give you something for all the trouble you went through workin on my car plus you and tami are the best for the free room and board while i was visiting. so thats why i sent it to ya.

ill call ya tomorrow man;)

i had the same problem, oil near the block code, on my 2nd motor it came from the dist…

check your oil pressure switch as well

It is right beneath the vtec solenoid…it is a small switch made out of brass…that brass fitting will require you to teflon thread it. My was leaking from there for awhile until I rethreaded it with teflon and that fixed the leak…
