Stock Clutch making noises... Is this normal???

Ok, few quick questions… The other day while I was parking I put the car in neutral, and released the clutch. The car started making a noise, like something spinning or wobbling, only not a healthy spinning or wobbling sound. Im not sure, but i think my car has always made a sound when I did this, but it seems like it has gotten louder. I am wondering how the clutch is bolted on, and if it is possible that the clutch has somehow come loose, and is wobbling as it spans? I really cant think of any other thing it might be; the sound only occurs when I release the clutch. Im pretty sure it makes the sound even when the car is in gear, although im not sure, since the engine noise it too loud to hear it.
Perhaps it is just me, or perhaps it is normal, but I just want some input form you guys just in case this is a potential problem. Sorry if this turns out to be a normal thing, I just thought i would ask you guys, because if it is a problem, i want to catch it before it turns into a major one. So, if anyone knows if this is normal, or if anyone knows that this is a problem, and knows what it may be, or how to fix it, please let me know
Thanks!

Your car is telling you that your input shaft bearing is going out inside of your transmission. It is nothing clutch related.
It happens to all cars eventually. You just have to pull off the tranny, open it up, pull out the shift forks and the gear shafts and replace the input shaft bearing that sits in the housing. Sounds easy, doesnt it?? I would also recommend replacing the other 2 ball bearings along with that one just in case.
Do a search for rebuilding a tranny and look up the info you need. I know that I have done some good write ups on it along with some of the other members.
I would suggest you have someone else do it, or help you do it that has done it before if you plan on replacing that thing. It isnt exactly easy if you dont know what your doing.

Here are some pics from when I did mine…

See the ball bearing on the far left?? That is one of the bearings that you will need to replace.

This is what the inside of your tranny looks like when you pull off the casing. Those are the shafts, obviously. I dont have any pics of the other side where the 3 shift forks are that have to be removed as well.
Sitting on top of the mainshaft is another bearing that you will want to replace and you will also want to replace that big nut and the bearing just below it on the countershaft.

Thats about it. Good luck if you decide to do it yourself, or with help and I hope that you dont get raped by a shop if you take it in.

Thanks for the info BR:)

I found out today that my tranny fluid hasn’t been changed in a few years:uhoh:so im going to take it to midas or somplace tommrow, and flush the tranny, and replace the fluid with new stuff. I took the car to a mechanic today, and he said to change the transmission fluid first. Chances are that the bearings are a bit worn he said, but if I change the tranny fluid things should be a lot smoother, and should fix the problem until i have enough money to do a full clutch job, since i think ill be needing one of thoes soon (I still have the stock clutch):stuck_out_tongue:

Anyway, my mechanic wanted way to much to flush the tranny, so im going to take it to Midas or somwhere else and flush it, and replace the fluid and see if that helps  While im at it I may as well change my oil, oil filter, and air filter aswell.

Thanks for the info

No problem, I am glad I could help.

If you are going to do your oil and other stuff on your own then you should do your tranny fluid too. It isnt that much harder than changing your oil. The hardest part is finding a way to fill the tranny up with fluid… I made my own fill tool that works well…

You should download a copy of the helms manual if you havent already done so and read up on it. There are a couple members of this site that have links to it in their signatures.
