Whenever I step at the gas at somewhat low RPMs, my car starts bogging, almost like its not getting fuel.
If I rev the RPMs in 1st to about 3 or 4 and then go, its fine, when I shift up and drive normally its fine. But if I step on it, it starts to bog. Its almost like its bubbling or something, I dont know thats the only way I can describe it.
I was trying to floor it in first, and the car bogged and backfired. Its also had some trouble starting up, when I was cranking it, I saw a bit of smoke come from my intake/tranny side.
Its still doing the bogging/stuttering thing, and if you let it stutted to much it’ll start to backfire…
i had the bogging and backfiring but mine would take a while to start and it would not rev over 2000 without bubblingg (that sound) and backfiring.
My problem was due to a distributor rotor that was loose/ worn. check to see if the screw is still on yours or if it has play. if your screw is missing, you can use the one from the wire hold-down on the distributor. it is the same size.
Was everything fine before and have you done any changes to the car/parts replace before it happens? If you havent’ touched anything and it happened chances are worn or bad part?
But if u remove parts or replace wires, plugs rotor cap etc try checking thoses.
As for timing if u want just check to see if its on tight because chances are if its not on tight as it should you could of jump a tooth i dont know it can happen.
I had this same problem. In April this year mine wouldnt go above 3000 rpm, so i replaced the distribitor because i found out that the shaft was bent. Lately its been having the same problem as yours so i took off the cap and there was rust colored dust on everything. This distribitor is only 6 months old so im like wtf. Anyways today i took it out and found out that the little gear looking thing was loose, so I took of the rotor and i took out the little roll pin that holds the gear on and put it back in the right way( it is half circle shaped and the flat part shouldnt go up against the shaft) and cleaned everything off with brake cleaner, blew it out with an airgun, and sprayed silicone spray on the electrical connections. Now my car runs alot better. Hope that helps.
The only thing I can think of is I took a long drive across my state. My car has an over heating problem if its stuck in stop and go traffic for a while, and thats what happened. I never overheated, but my temp gauge went up.
When I got to where I was going, and eventually got back in my car, thats when the problem started.
I noticed I was low on oil and threw 3 quarts in, so I really dont know.
What i’m concerned about right now is its having trouble starting. I get it started on about the second or third crank, but sometimes it’ll act like its going to start, make this weird sucking sound from my intake, die, and then smoke will come out of the intake side of my car… No idea what the fuck is going on.
I’ll check the §§§§§ out tomorrow and see if thats the problem…
Alright, popped open the §§§§§ cap and found this. Sorry, I know the pic is real bad.
Theres a small crack in my shroud, could this possibly be a factor/something I should look out for?
As far as screws and everything, that all seems fine.
I tried starting it, and it smoked out of my intake again on the crank. I think its possible that my intake filter is just clogged/nasty, there was mud all over one side of it.
I havent had this bogging problem before, but I have had a problem with the car starting with a strange sucking sound from my intake. I cleaned the filter and that seemed to fix it last time, so I’m gonna try that out first.
get a volt meter and test for voltage if its in spec. The Coil
Your problems are going to be within the distributor housing or the shaft itself i bet.
If you can even get another distributor from a friend and test it that should explain if your car i s having a hard time starting. Maybe its the ignition module ( ignitor). Get it tested at autozone or kragen.
At first i was going to say your plug wires at least one was on wrong hehe when u mention backfire and smokes when cranking.
Once your car is working better maybe you can start using injector cleaner or seafoam it to clean carbon build-ups.
please take pictures of the engine bay and intake area i would like to see.
Smoke coming from the intake where the throttle body is or the intake manifold plugs to the head part?
Hmmm, smoke in the intake is basically unburn fuel finding its way back out from the engine.
Weak spark etc. Not being able to burn through its whole cycle maybe?
What i mean is Kinda like you feed fuel and it has weak spark and it barely comes on and then its like someone throw water right away on it and it dies and smoke forms and back track back out the top. Something is blocking or not working correctly for the firing to go through its cycle to burn off completely thats why it dies and u continue to have cranking sound only. I sound so noob there lol dont know what i am talking but i hope it make sense.
