Strange thumping sound

Please help.
My wife’s ’90 Tegra GS makes strange thumping sound (front passenger side). I though it has something to do with CV joints and she went to the CV specialist, but he said that CVs are OK and in great shape.
Here is the problem: He explained my wife what the problem might be, but for the life of her she’s not sure what he said. Might be something to do with suspension, but I don’t see the connection.
The thumping sound is connected with the rotation of the wheels and the speed.

As she’s accelerating, the sound goes faster and faster as: thump, thump, thump, thump….
Same thing as decelerating it goes thump, thump, thump, thump, thump… until the final stop.

Could this be the wheel bearing?

Thanks in advance.

LOL at the sound effects. Sorry I have no idea though

check the tires. make sure you don’t have flat spots on them or abnormal wear.

I have a similar problem, but two of my PP to flywheel bolts are a different length…but I doubt that’s the problem on your wife’s car…

other than that I don’t know

A few things to check for:

Get your tires balanced, and have them check for belt separation. This usually results more in a steering wheel shimmy but could cause such a noise.

Make sure your lug nuts are on tight. Chances are if you took it to a competent mechanic, he would have already have checked this.

Check the wheel bearing play. Take the top of the tire in your hands and push and pull vertically on it while it is still on the car. Any play at all means your wheel bearings are on their way out.

Besides that, it could likely be a tire problem.
