Stumped....oil squirters hitting crank

Today I started to put my rotating assembly on my gsr motor when i got it all together and tried to rotate it the crank got caught on the oil squirters, I have a B17 layin around so i tried those… no luck they caught as well. My first question is did the guy who sold me the motor (fully disassembled fresh from the shop) give me the wrong ones. Are the b16 and gsr squirters the same and are the b17 ones total odd balls. Another question I have is can I plug them safely. Im installing usdm spec itr pisons with coated skirts and my understanding is that the squirters main job is to cool the skirts, any insight would be helpfull

Many people plug the oil squirter holes to bump up oil pressure… I believe Golden Eagle make a kit for that.

Look up the part numbers between the B18C1 and the B17 on www.acuraoemparts.com and see if they’re the same

What machine work was done to the motor?

Are you sure you’re using a GSR crank? I believe an LS crank will hit the squirters.

the block was bored .040 over and decked .007 the crank was polished and the pistons were installed onto the p72 rods, all the research ive done says ive got an ls crank but without measuring i cant say definately. Is there an easy way to tell the difference between an ls and a gsr crank.

Yeah… if it hits the squirter, its an LS crank lol.

Well I guess ill pick up a set aftermarket ls rods or try to find a gsr crank. gsr rods are no good for an ls crank?

thanks by the way

Just plug the squirters and be done with it. That’s what I would do.

I didnt think you could use gsr rods on an ls crank.

Im also looking to make 300 h.p on boost whats your opinion on the ls crank and rods in a gsr block with a b16 head. I would of course use arp rod bolts, I also have type r pistons.

Damn, I forgot… The rods won’t fit the crank… Either get new rods or a new crank.

A stock block can handle 400’ish horsepower. Since you’re thinking of ARP fasteners, you definitely can hit 300whp and be reliable, provided the assembly and tune are done correctly.

Craigslist to the rescue…I got a gsr crank for a set of extra gsr cams i had layin around. Thats awesome because i didnt want to use ls parts in my gsr, or buy a different set of bearings. The assembly will be done right and I have a reputable tuner who is a da guy so thats a bonus. My db2 is gonna scream…eventually I still have to send the pr3 head to be port/polished and fit for the 1.8 gsr cams and dual valve springs after that i can put it together. Thanks again for the input.
