You may also want to check out adire audio and digital designs. In my teg I am currently closing down on my system with an eclipse 8053 deck, eclipse 2212 amp for up front, a single dd3510 in a raised subfloor, and I am looking at us amps to push the sub. I also upgraded my power system and put in extensive sound dampening to eliminate road noise and rattles (bedliner, bquiet ultimate/v-comp, 2in closed cell foam and carpet padding). It all depends on how much you want to spend and what kind of music you listen to.
Sounds like he wants enough bass to shake the rust off the cars around him. But all that bass will mess up your hearing.
The best bump for your buck is going to be from Elemental Designs. Get 2 10s from them and it will cost you exactly $200 bux. Audiobahn and all that regular crap is crap. Treo, Resonant Engineering, Adire and those other good brands people mentioned are quality stuff but I bet you cant afford it. I’d go with two Elemental 10s, they will hit!

I’d stick with the Type R and get a new Stronger Amp, or get one 12" Kicker Solo Baric L7.
I got a 10" Type E with an Audiobahn 8002t Intake Series amp and it sounds good.
Good enough for now anyways. I need a bigger sub to rock my trunk. When I find a cheap L7 somewhere, I’m game.
I had Alpine Type S’s and I thought they sounded pretty good, but like the other owner said…they can take a beating. Ive definately considered type R’s since owning the S’s.

To the orig. poster. I have built and helped build a few systems and I myself have decided after going through a few others on the 10" JL W3v2. It is absolutly amazing, kicks the crap out of my 2 old systems which were 2 10" PG’s and 2 12" PG’s, my freinds Alpine 10". The sub was $250 when I got it, and that was through a store in town, so you can probably get it cheaper, but I would recomend that over anything, it does everything you would expect a sub to do. BTW Mine is powered by a 400.1 PG Xenon Amp in a sealed box.
type R’s don’t impress me much, but if u want alot of bass go with kicker L5’s…and push it with an amp atleast 1000 watt
my two 10" pioneers in a audiopipe ported box w/ rockford punch 900 mono bangs more than my buddies 2 12" type R
or if u got the money go with eclipse subs or JL’s

There is a reason that JL is so popular. They have a woofer for just about every listening level & are the best “bang for the buck”
I have been an installer for 15 yrs & have installed alot of subs in my time.
Now if you were looking for competitive SPL speakers then yes look else where.
As for the amp what “350” watt Alpine amp do you have? If its the MRP-M350 then you don’t have 350 watts maybe 200 or so. I am not saying that its not a good amp but it is over rated .

Just keep in mind that loud does not mean that it sounds good. Most of the subs marketed toward SPL sound like crap but can be very loud.

But some people don’t know anything at all and thats all they think is good. Like you for instance. Have you been to any competitions? Most of the winners are running TREO subs. Not to mention zapco Comp amps. By the way Sony’s decks are crap. They look like shit also. And your PG amp is also shit. I’ve been installing stereo’s for myself, a lot of friends and other people for probably 10 years now. I know what the fuck i’m doing.

First of all I agree that their speakers do suck, dont know about their amps because I dont know anything about them. And no my PG amp does not suck, it may not be the best but it certainly is not a bad amp. And yes I have been to stereo competitions, only local ones which arnt all that big and great but yeah. And yes your fiberglass looks like a quaility job, but I would never have that crap in my car, I persoanlly think it looks like poo and just asked theifs to come over to your house.
the firebird isn’t mine (I wouldn’t own one of those pieces of crap). It was an install I did. The truck is, and well it’s a show truck, and is insured for $40K flat value, so they are more than welcome to come rip it off. I’ll be cashing a nice big check. Ok I do take that back about PG. I know a few people with them and they are ok. But just don’t like how they look.
