I have '92 Integra that runs fine, although it idles very low. But it won’t start when it gets hot inside the car. I live in Tallahassee, so if I don’t park in the shade, and the car heats up, it won’t start.
I thought I heard something about this on a radio show…something about the sensor that is connected to the clutch malfunctions when it is hot. Does anyone know anything about this problem?
If it’s cranking and just won’t fire up, it’s probably your main fuel relay. You can check this buy turning your key to the ON position, and listening for the fuel pump to prime. If you can’t hear it, it’s your fuel relay. If you can, it could be your coil or igniter.
And for future reference, almost all starting problems can be solved by doing a search on here (along with just about everything else! )
must be a common error on 92 tegs cause i have the same problem, but not to worry now cause i just ripped the engine out so we will see after my rebuild
I had that problem. It turned out to be a contact for the ignition and over time, usage, and interior heat in the car, the gap between the contacts increases slightly thus increasing the resistance and voltage drop across the contact which is the reason that it will not start when it’s hot out. Only problem is getting to the contact, you need to take the damn dash apart to get to it! It’s time consuming and expensive (labour costs at the dealer) unless you do it yourself then it’s just time consuming.
The conact doesn’t cost much, or you can just heat the contact up and squeeze it closer together. You’re better off getting a new contact.
If you don’t mind paying the dealer to fix it your’re better off getting them to do it cause it’s a real pain!
