I want to know if I have a good set up, or if I need some things. Give me some advice please.
I have so far,
skunk2 pro s 2 coilovers
Suspension technique sway bars
Front and rear strut bars
Energy suspension bushings
What else would I really need or be useful in the track. Thanks
Some nice tires like dunlop direzza sport z1 star spec, hankook ventus v12 evo, kumho xs and etc. I got these from a review they did on car and driver. I have the kumho xs, and they held up very well at buttonwillow. I am sure I would have destroyed my street tires there.
I would check my brake pads, rotors, brake fluid and make sure the basic maintenance up to par.
G2 member Colin was right about just getting out there. I ran against a viper, porsches, miatas, many beemers, a mazda ms3 speed, h4 prepped civic coupe and 2 fully modded egs this weekend. I was out driven, out powered and was wrong wheeled drive. It didn’t matter what I did to my DA. Get some seat time and have fun :burnout:
I forgot to mention that I have stainless steal braded brake lines and centric/stop tech rotors, ceramic pads.
And for wheels and tires I have 2000 si’s with yoko s drives.
S.Drives are really not enough for track conditions, but will suffice I suppose. Just make sure your brakes are good, maitenance etc… And a good alignment!
Assuming everything is safe/reliable on your car it sounds like your setup is more than enough for a first time visit to the track, likely even over-prepared. I say get out there and have some fun, and likely afterward you’ll be more interested in putting your money into more track day entry fees opposed to more mods. Once you get some more seat time you’ll be able to start seeing where the car could use a little improvement and you can start modding accordingly.
I highly recommend the HFF Challenge Series thru SpeedVentures, it’s a Time Trial based competition for all front drive hondas (you can read about it on SpeedVentures website). You’re more than welcome to compete as a complete novice, but even if you don’t feel comfortable doing that you can come out and run on one of those weekends and there will be a lot of other Honda drivers there - many of whom would be more than happy to chat about your car, take you for a ride in theirs, or go out with you to help you figure out your lines, braking points…etc It’s a great group of guys. Our last event of the season is Sun 23rd at Buttonwillow. Most of the other event organizers also have some form of instruction available for a modest fee.
