swapping windsheilds

I have a parts teg with a brand new windshield, how does one swap windshields with a good teg with a chip in it?

I just had a new windshield put in a few days ago. I wouldn’t want to try it myself. You could call a few autoglass places and make a deal.

good luck getting it out in one piece, even most perfesional installers can’t.

more props to you if you can though:up:

actually most can if they have the tools and are even half way competent at there job

i used to install auto glass, we had resets all the time (takeing the windshield out and reinstalling it because of leaks)

basicly what we used was an expensive jigsaw with a paint scraper blade on it to cut the urethane that holds the windshield to the body. afterwards you have to use a razorblade and remove all the urethane on the windshield, prime it, let it cure for about 10 mins while you scrape the urethane off the body of the car (leave about an 1/8th inch bead if possible) and prime that and any nicks in the paint or any rust spots.

after both primers are cured, reapply new urethane to the windshield (or body, whichever you prefer) and install.

simple, and 90% of the time took us less then 45 minutes. the longest part is the 2 hours it has to sit for the urethane to cure

Buy a new one.

I paid $190 cash and they came out and installed it. It shouldn’t be much more in Ohio for a 1990-1993 Integra windshield. Good luck.

190 is a fair price for any windshield unless you have something like a big rig or a windshield that is rubber set instead of urethaned in, then it may be a little more. or some of the newer cars are more expensive because moldings and exterior pieces are getting more and more complicated to take apart

I actually had one installed for $150 a few months ago.

price depends on the cost of the windshield and what the shop charges for labor

we did resets for $75 on most cars and trucks since we were just reuseing the same windshield

most honda windshields cost around $95
